Breaking News: Brown Will Not Return To Pistons

Sucks, Phil. And his timing screws you out of getting Mcmillan too. I'd be livid if it were my team.

I can't be too upset, because I think they started out trying to see if this could be worked out. My preference was to see Brown stay, with a commitment to get the kids some burn, and I think that was Joe Dumars' preference as well. When it became apparent that it wasn't going to, they moved forward with a buyout. Flip Saunders is a good alternative. I'd have preferred McMillan to Saunders, but not so much that I'm pissed that Brown didn't get shoved out the door a couple weeks ago.

EDIT: What do I have in common with Rafael Palmeiro? 3000, baby!!! :woot:

Any GM who hires Larry Brown is dumb...the man cant sit still for more than a couple years and then he leaves. He left my Sixers in the lurch and he will ruin a few more teams before he is through.

Larry Brown is like a gypsy. If it's truly health related then that's understandable.Flip would be a good canidate for the job,but if Riley does decide to coach again I guess Van Gundy would be available.Anyway Detroit's coaching job would be quite a gig.I'm sure glad Phil uped with my Lakers before this news broke.

Jackson would have never taken the Detroit job anyway. Not that the Lakers are somehow a better team to coach (not by a long shot), but PJ has zero tolerance for the idea of living in The D.

I would take Flip Saunders over Stan Van Gundy any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I think Saunders is a very good coach who ended up unfairly being a fall guy.

Dumb? I guess if you want to win and think that is dumb but the man improves every situation he gets into, it's not his fault that some teams decline after he leaves. Philly was a laughingstock for many years before LB came in and brought you to a Finals. This man took the CLIPPERS to the playoffs- The Clippers! Let that sink in for a while. he is an all-time great coach. yes he has some flaws and you know he'll leave w/in a few years but to me I think it would be worth it for any struggling franchise.

Not if the overrated Pat Riley dumps Van Gundy.

That's not happening...it was a creation of the stupid media just because Riley said that "I am getting more involved"

I like this GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great letter to the prez.

Thanks. As you can see, he didn't pick me, though. Maybe I'll get the opening on the DC Circuit, though. :)

BTW....get out tha way.....The Heat comin' through. :rofl3:

This could very well be a "one step back to take two steps forward" season for Detroit. Right now, I would probably pick Miami to win the East next year. That's subject to change, of course.
