Breaking News: Dolphins Inquire about Pennington

With Brett Favre now a New York Jet, Chad Pennington is now available to the man who drafted him in 2000.
Bill Parcells and the Dolphins haven’t wasted any time reaching out to Pennington’s agent, Tom Condon, an NFL source said.
To make room for Favre and his $12-million contract, Pennington, 32, will officially be released at 4 p.m.
Given the Dolphins situation at quarterback during training camp, Pennington could land in South Florida.
Veteran Josh McCown has looked shaky, including a three-interception day on Tuesday, while second-year pro John Beck has leveled out a bit this week following a rough opening week of camp.
Rookie Chad Henne, who turned 23 last month, has been the best of the three for the past week.
But Parcells is known to prefer veteran quarterbacks, other than his first season in New England when he went with 23-year-old Drew Bledsoe, who was the No. 1 draft pick in 1993.

Pennington knows our division opponents like the back of his hand. Moreover, he knows our offense like the back of his other hand-, Henning was on the Jets during Pennington's first few years there.. He'd be perfect. We will win a few more games and that will SERIOUSLY attract free agents next offseason.. And that's a good thing as we will have some good cap room to sign them, really improving our team.

I'll be ecstatic if we sign him.

:rolleyes2: I dont think I can watch 16 weeks of a Phins qb lobbing the ball 12 yards down the field. How bad must John Beck be if they draft Henne and now want to look at Pennington? We know McCown wasnt here for the longterm, and we know he sucks, so this again tells me nothing good about John Beck.

Im having severe deja vu right now. Last year Trent Green was the perfect mentor for John Beck. lol Now Pennington is the perfect mentor for Henne? Then next year we can draft Stafford and bring in some mediocre vet to mentor him? For the love of god, make it stop!!!!!!

Pennington never beats us with Dinks & DUnks or lobbying the ball. He beat us with bombs to Coles and McCareins. Everyone keeps saying he lacks arm strength, but I never remember him sucking against us.
