Breakout Dolphin of 2005

Vernon Carey. Last year people were already calling him a bust (which was foolish, but they were still doing it). This year he seems to be developing into a fine tackle.

here here. good pick.

You took the words out of my mouth.

ETA: To expand on this, I think it quite silly to suggest a player who has been as successful as Marty would be a breakout player, but it is quite apparent that there are many Dolphins fans who just won't give him his due for what he has done until they see it in aqua and orange. They'll get to see it this year.

sorry, i just don't see it... never really have... He's got terrific hands and runs decent routes... But he doesn't really get seperation, he loses focus too often, and he's not a deep threat... Worst, he didn't even wanna come here... He was sickened about the trade last year and made it public... I think he's excellent trade fodder.... Eagles?

Chris Chambers will have a pro-bowl season of 1000+ yards and 10+ td's.

After watching the preseason games, I think it's Wes Welker. He's probably never gonna be a star in the league, but he's impressed me. Before camp started, I wondered if he even would be worthy of a roster spot, because all he did last season was return kicks, but he has shown he can be the 3rd wideout, and right now he probably is worthy of that position. Other than him, I think Travis Daniels will be a very solid player in the league, he'll struggle, but he's impressed me alot this preseason, and he's gonna be a very good CB in the NFL during his career.

It has got to be Chris Chambers. I've been watching this guy since his last year in college and when he was drafted. I heard my brother throw a fit because the Dolphins picked him before the Broncos did  I've seen him play a few games, I've seen the handful of ridiculous catches he makes. Those catches he makes reminds me of watching Terrell Owens play with that type of athleticism. I really hope, and think, this will be his break out year. We actually have two quarterbacks who know the offense. Gus knows the systems because he's worked with Scott Linehan for years. And this is Feely's 2nd year, so he knows the system as well. With one of, I'd say, the top tier recieving cores in the league, there shouldn't be too much pressure on Chambers either. I have high hopes for him this year and this will be his big year.

No, this WILL be his year. He's been in the league for about 4 years now and he hasn't broken out yet. Of any reciever int he league, Chris has got to have the most potential of any, if not the most, Top 5. He's entering his 5th year and he hasn't been close to a breakout year yet. This must be his year. End rant. ;)

Is it possible to start both Lance Schulters and Yeremiah Bell as safeties?

yeah, i really feel Chambers has been held back by the past regimes and past QBs... imagine him with Holmgren, Shanahan?

Carey. You gotta break out of SOMEthing, and Carey was on the bench last year. The draft choices shouldn't be considered for this -- what are they breaking out of? Booker? He was a pro-bowler. Chambers? He's done fine so far.

Carey and Bell...

I wanted us to draft Carey at the time of the draft and knew he could be a good one. The old regime messed him about last year but I always believed that he could be dominant lineman at this level.

Bell has always been raved about but has been desperately unlucky with injuries, hopefully he can stay healthy this year whilst learning from guys like Schulters and Tebucky and Sammy Knight in the past, and can become a cornerstone of the secondary.

BTW, i may as well mention it here... whilst the secondary may a weakness atm, we have a lot of talented youth back there with Bell, Poole, Daniels and Mitchell, in a couple of years they could be a real strong point of the team.

Guys I'm hoping will break out.....

..on the Big "O": Chambers and Ronnie Brown....for Chambers, it's simply time to earn that contract extension he signed last year. He's got the talent and now he's got an offense that like to throw is downfield...even if the starting QB isn't the best in the league (whoever it's going to be)...no more excuses for Chambers (of course he's never made any, just another reason I want him to break out this year) and Brown...he almost has to look good. Whle I don't expect him to dominate, although that would be great, as a #2 overall drafted rookie he's got to show the complete package of running, receiving, and blocking on a consistant basiis...a solid running game helps everyone on the team on both sides of the ball.

.....on the Big "D": Vonnie Holliday and Yeremiah Bell....if Holliday can regain the potential and skills he started to show in Green Bay just before he left for big money in KC, the whole defense just became better. It'll allow JT and Kevin Carter to do more things as opponents won't be able to double team them. ....For Bell....well, just like everyone else says, he's got some special talent, he's just had terrible injury luck...as in bad luck. I think if he just stays health he could post 6+ interceptions in this defense.
