I have a strong feeling we will see many previous players who havent gotten much attention or not enough, have their breakout year.

Ronnie Brown- Underrated. He is an animal in the backfield. Given the disgrace of a line we had last year, Ronnie did great. If he were playing behind, maybe the Colts line, he would have looked like Larry Johnson. He also has one of the best sets of hands Ive seen on any Runningback. Keep in mind, our new coach helped coach Tomlinson.

Travis Daniels- It may or may not be THIS year, but very soon we will see him be a very good corner. And dont mention his lack of speed. There are plenty of decent Corners in this league without blazing speed. Tory James, Charles Woodson, Nick Harper. He has shown flashes of ability. I think with the right coaching, he will develop. I may be streching it now, but looking at the stats, he IS on pace with Asante Samuel. Maybe? Who knows.

Channing Crowder- This guy is simply put, a beast. He hits about as hard as Zach, and is faster. Soon we will see him in the pro bowl. If he can work on his play awareness, he will be a great player.

Cleo Lemon- Odds are, he will be backing up Culpepper. But, for how long? I have heard reports he is expected to compete for the starting job. In his limited amount of playing time, I personally havent seen any major bad desicions. If he can keep it up, he will be a decent Quarterback. Cameron worked with this guy in San Diego. He knows what he is capable of.

Derek Hagan- This is along the same lines as Daniels. Maybe not this year, but soon. The future on Chambers is uncertain. As much as I would hate to see him go, I have come to realize something. The Chargers dont have any stand out Receivers. With Cameron bringing that offence over here, I dont think we will need it either. Hagan has the potential to be pretty good.

Matt Roth- With the future of our old D-line up in the air, Matt Roth needs to step up and produce. Like Lemon, I have yet to have seen much of him, but he has contributed decently while in there. Hopefully he realizes this, and works on his game more to develop into a solid compliment to Taylor.

If we improve the blocking, Ronnie will easily prove all of his doubters wrong. The running game is so dependent on the blocking, its hard to criticize a running back for a lack of production. If Daniels is healthy, he should put a decent year, I'm not expecting a real big breakout though.

Depending on who we keep in free agency, I think Matt Roth could have a breakout season. He was too often buried on the depth chart behind Kevin Carter, but if he leaves, Roth should be a starter, or at the very least see significantly more playing time. He has all the tools to become a very serviceable defensive end.

I agree with you about everyone accept Hagan.Im not sure he will be of much use in the future.I hope im wrong.

Excellent post/thread. Only guy I might add is Rod Wright, but his breakout year would likely be 2008, not next year.

I agree with Roth, Crwoder, Brown, and Rod Wright.

I would add Hagan more for 08-09.

I dont expect Daniels to get much better. Say what you will, heart and dedication go a long way, and Daniels imo has those, but he falls short in skill by a hair.

I would add Bell and J. Allen to the breakout list for next year. I expect Bell could be a Michael Lewis type; better range then given credit for and a playmaker and Allen should either be a very strong cover corner or be able to make plays on the weak side of the field as a FS.

I have no faith in Travis Daniels to stay healthy. He's soft.

Lemon??? He hopefully won't see the field.

The others I could see though.

That's pretty optimistic. I'd love for that all to come true. I really dont see Daniels having much of a future with the Dolphins. He was placed in an extension of the system he had in college and coached by the same guy. We've probably seen his ceiling in the NFL. He doesnt seem to have the physical gifts that would let him adapt and excel. Hagan's drops piss me off a little bit too much to focus on anything else.

As far as breakouts im interested in seeing if Evans or Wright emerge on the dline.

yes exactly, if lemon is on the field for us starting at any time next season we are totally stuffed. he is hopeless, he came in for us lost a few games and played pretty much on par with what you would expect of your poor 3rd string QB. it angers me to see people saying things like it will be his break-out year and that he should be our 2nd QB behind culpepper:fire: when it is not an unlikely event that culpepper could get hurt, so we have this hopeless player in lemon to start for us should culpepper go down if that happens we are in deep deep trouble.

lemon is a 3rd string QB people nothing more, remember that before you say things like he will be competing for a starting job next year etc.

What Im amazed by is this idea that Lemon was Cams hidden treasure in SD. If that was true why did he let him get traded to Miami. Lemon may or may not develope into a good QB one day but, he is not there yet and odds are he wont, considering he has already been in the league for awhile now and hasnt yet.

And AJ SMITH who has probably been the best GM the past 5 years and who hasn't missed on many if any players over that time period felt it was OK to trade him. So, now he's wrong too?!?!?!?!!!! I don't think so!!!

What I don't understand is how people can't give credit to lemon for what he did in the 2 games he played most in. Against the jets on Monday night miami wasn't doing s**t with harrington in the game, came in and did pretty good losing to the playoff bound jets 13-10. Next week made some mistakes but did end up coming down to a hail mary in a loss against the super bowl champion colts in Indianpolis 27-22. I am not saying that cleo is a diamond in the rough but when he got the chance to play he brought more excitiment in one and a half games then miami had all season. That also was with mularky calling those bulls**t plays. Its not impossible that cameron couldn't groom him, when he already has that coaching history with lemon.

Here's how I feel about the players you mentioned.

Ronnie Brown - a little better than an average runner who barely cracked 1000yds last year. Seems to be a good catcher and pass blocker though. Hopefully his running will continue to progress. I know after he came back from his injury late in the season he seemed to be running with power and on a mission.

Travis Daniels - Haven't heard too much of him.

Channing Crowder - Haven't heard his name called too often, but seems like everyone says he is a good talent.

Cleo Lemon - Most likely a decent backup to Culpepper because I think Harrington is gone unless he takes a pay cut.

Derek Hagan - Hardly ever seen him in a game (thanks Saban). Unknown on him. I've heard he's not a burner but more of a possesion receiver but may have the case of some drops now and again. Hopefully that can be coached and corrected.

Matt Roth - A star in the making. I've seen him come into the game for limited periods and produce. Just needs more playing time and with our veteran DL, it may be hard to get him in the rotation.

And Jason Allen - why did Saban never put him in the game? Punishment for being late to sign or what?
