Breer: Ross convinced Phins are QB away from Super Bowl

We may or may not be a QB away from a championship....but its a fact your not winning one without an elite QB.

That's not a fact, a team won their 2nd SB in 5 years w/o an elite QB just a few weeks ago and if people think Eli is elite now(which I disagree w/) there's no debate about 2007 when he was still a struggling QB.

Eli has the stats and clutch stats to back that he has the ability to score when needed. He can make all the throws. Maybe he is not consistent enough but he really can drop a ball in any location with good arm strength. He may not be a 45 TD 15 INT QB but I'd still consider him top 10 easy. I think the point here is your not winning a SB with matt moore, chad henne, colt mccoy, mark sanchez, or a jason campbell type deal. You need a guy who can deliver in big time situations and can hit the majority of the throws needed to be successful.

don't put Sanchez in w/ those toher QBs please, sanchez has a lot more in common w/ Eli than any of those QBs. I don't want this thread to be derailed and then I get blamed. Let's get back to the great Stephen Ross

Its not about Stephen Ross its about if a QB can make the difference. I'm not derailing the thread i'm saying mediocre QBs is not what you want. If you think Sanchez has "it" and that stats aren't a good justification then you are right about sanchez being in an elite HOF level with Eli manning, otherwise he is a jason campbell or matt moore. Ross wants to pay for a name or get the young gun. I don't want to go into the season with Moore at QB but wouldn't be pissed. Don't want Flynn, pray for Manning to be healthy and to come to Miami, or a trade up for RG3. Ross just wants what we want, hopefully it isn't a dumb or bad luck decision that ultimate fails and this time we come out on the winning side.

I would be comfortable with Moore as our starter in 2012. Fact is, if you can upgrade ANY position, then you do it. This is a business. If you think you are "good enough" somewhere and don't pursue an upgrade at any possible time, you aren't going to do well.

of courseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, god forbid anyone call Sanchez average when

he has a carrer rating of 72.2, with 55 TDs vs. 51 INTs......yes that is really up there with the best of em....

"but he led the Jets to 2 title game losses" we know....we know.....

too late for being derailed when you entered a thread with nothing to do with the Jets as usual and made a sarcastic useless remark about Stephen Ross

And here we go again with Junc derailing yet another thread with his delusions of Sanchez somehow being comparable to Eli.

Yeah, from a front office perspective: Sanchez is as close to Eli as the value of one 3rd or 4th round pick is to two first rounders. :idk:

somewhat but even with possibly the best qb of all time Indy still only went to one superbowl and won one. so the analysis that of being a qb away is pretty generic,

Manning has been to 2 superbowls, not 1

And both were in the last 6 years he played (1/3). And he had 2 MVP's over the past 4 active years.. has 4 NFL MVP's altogether which is the most MVP's by a single player in NFL history

Eli Manning is so underated. Him leading 2 game winning TD drives vs arguably the best coach and QB combination in the history of the NFL is big stuff. Even the great Tom Brady himself has only been able to render game winning FG drives on the NFL's biggest stage. Junc we could argue until we are both blue in the face and you will NEVER convince me that Sanchez and Eli Manning are in the same company. Save you breath, I will not even reply to such nonsense going forward.

Not to mention he was awesome in the Dallas game with the Giants entire season hanging in the balance. A season in which they won the Super Bowl.

If you asked 1,000,000 non Dolphins, Jets or Giants fans who they would take Sanchez or Eli, the responses would be overwhelmingly in Eli's favor. There is no doubt about it. I know who Pats fans would choose :).

Hell, just regularly reading the 3 puke green forums, at this point if you asked just Jest fans, probably probably 7 out of every 10 would take Eli in a NY Minute!

so go from "suck for Luck" to "na, you dont need a great Qb to be a great team."

I dont get people sometimes.

I'd like to think that we're just a QB away from winning the superbowl but I believe we need more than that......NE couldn't win with Brady so why would we?....I get it, we need a great QB but we need more that just a QB.

Ozzy rules!!
