A source said that Brees' shoulder "was much worse than they thought" after he was examined by the Dolphins' medical staff.

"I think it was," Brees said of the Dolphins' concerns over his shoulder. "Of course, I think everybody in this whole situation has evaluated my shoulder.

Then N.O. essentially signs him to a 1 year deal. A huge bonus in FEB 2007 gives the Saints an out if he falters.

Thesedoctors who said he'll be fine are liars. They said the same thing about Pennington here in NY, and obviously they were wrong. He'll never be as good as he was, and I think his falloff is worse than Culpepper's.

That's why I said "essentially" a 1 year deal...See that $12 million option, THAT'S what makes it a 1 year deal...if the SAints want out, they don't have to pay it.
