Brees Interview:"Why I Chose New Orleans"?

It's quite clear

that if Miami wanted Brees they could have had him...obviously, between the medical exams and contracts they decided it wasn't worth it and moved on.

Then the Saints got the leftovers. Its no biggie.

From what I heard in the radio interview, Brees didn't pick New Orleans just for the money. Like I said before in my 'Brees & Culpepper: Set it Straight' thread, Brees is a home town guy. He is a guy for the underdogs. That is the style of QB that he plays. New Orleans made him feel like he would be the home town hero. That really appealed to him. So that is why he went with New Orleans. The extra money was bonus.

The Dolphins are trying to become a force to reckon with in the NFL. They are very close to being a team that, like Saban said, "other teams hate to play". Miami is looking to start winning because they are a well-oiled machine. It isn't about feelings anymore. It is about winning. Culpepper can bring that attitude to the offense. Although, he does have some maturing to do. I'm looking forward to watching his growth in Miami.

For the record: I think both cities got the QB that fit them best for this period in time.

That's funny, there's an article on espn that's saying that once you learned the Dolphins were no longer an option, you took the Saints offer.

So wait aminute... are you saying if Miami had matched the offer he would still have chosen NO? Do you really believe that? I don't.

I think Saban diligently looked at the possibility of getting a franchise qb without having to trade a pick, but between the medical issues and the financial demands, he just couldn't rationalize it; so he bit the bullet, gave up the pick and got our franchise guy that has no issues with his main weapon- his throwing arm. Once again, Nick explores all options objectively, then makes the best choice for the team.Guy's good!

What a bunch of BS by Brees! Does he think Miami will sit around waiting for him to decide? I am glad Miami has a bit of an arrogoant attitiude, it should be a da*n privledge to play here! Good luck in New orleans, can't wait to play you...

"how was the money comparision between the dolphins and saints?"
drew- "NO offered a LITTLE more"
hahah yea just a little....forget brees man its over hes all about the money he knows hes not going to win in NO...miami will be better off with a guy like culpepper who wanted to play for the dolphins and is going to succeed in our system!

I for one have no trouble believing Drew. If Miami was really so damned enamored with Pepper, they could have had him signed, sealed, and delivered before Brees was even in town based on the reports that Minnesota was looking for exactly what Miami ended up paying for him.

In fact, I think the only thing that makes any sense is the following:

- Brees says he won't sign in Miami for less than $x, which is essentially turning Miami down
- Miami didn't make an effort to get him to reconsider because they liked the Pepper package better given that price
- Brees gets the deal done with the Saints and Miami gets the deal done with the Vikings

What is so hard to believe about that? Are so many of you personally hurt by this enough that you have to slam the guy?

What a tool.

The Miami organization will make moves, and, deal with men like men, not girls. we gave that waste one extension and, then, Nick was sick of it. Move move move....Ok..I'm not happy with a 2nd for Culpepper...But...Hell...It's better than that prima donna limp winged
girl.

*Heh*....I just bet his goal was to go from SD to...NOLA.....

I've been down there.

The place is a total wreck, the owner is a tool and, they won't even BE there
int a few years. Have you SEEN the players jumping ship?

Does that tell you NOTHING?!

That's what's being reported now (Michael Smith, ESPN), Miami never made an offer. We found out what his price would be and looked at the entire situation (medical condition et al), and decided a 2nd for DC was the best way to go.

The reports I heard said that Miami decided to go with DC when they recieved the doctors report regarding DB's shoulder (monday night). This jives with Saban's PC. IMO this is the scenario that makes sense.

-DB was our first choice if his shoulder checked out and if he fit in our salary parameters
-we were negotiating with Condon on Monday and were expected to continue negotiating on Tuesday (clearly something changed between Monday night and Tuesday morning)
- on Monday night the team recieved the doctor's reports and they didn't like what they saw and immediately they contacted Minn. and agreed to trade for DC
- then they contacted Condon (allegedly Tuesday morning) and told him they were no longer interested
- Condon/Brees called NO and accepted their offer

Good post JJ...But honestly, if DB wanted to be here, he'd've backed off a bit. he's going after the money, which, I can't and don't blame him for.

But, honestly....NOLA?!

Dude, that whle place is a wreck, and, that team is outta there shortly....
He's got no weapons....

That guy's career is about to be done.

You guys kill me.....no weapons? Joe Horn, Donte Stallworth, Az Hakim, Devery Henderson, Zach Hilton, Deuce McAllister. Do you guys even watch football? I'd bet you haven't even been to New Orleans since Katrina (oh I'm sure you'll respond with the tired "my sister's boyfriend's mechanic's uncle's niece lives there and she says the city is a wreck). The NFL is commited to staying in New Orleans until 2010 after that we'll see....

My advice to Dolphins fans on Brees - just let it go.......

Ohh, you are KILLING me!

Bro, I was in NOLA from the time the levys broke. (Day after).

That place was, and, still is a wreck.

You ever hear of Waveland, MS?

The NOLA fanbase extends out of NOLA to surrounding areas, and, they are all devastated.

Of course, I only spent two months trying to rebuild Waveland...

I don't know anything.

On a football note...Yeah...Az-hakim makes my knees buckle...:sidelol:
