"...That decision could come as early as today if negotiations strike the right chord -- and for Brees that means $10 million per year and $10 million in guarantees. The Dolphins were offering approximately $5 million to $7 million in guarantees two days ago.

If the gap isn't bridged, Brees likely will be heading back to New Orleans, and the Dolphins will fall back to what is clearly their second option:

Somehow acquiring Minnesota quarterback Daunte Culpepper."

Hey, if he decides to play in NO cause they gave him more money, then so be it. If he's more interested in money than success, good for him. We don't need someone like that. He can be a loser that lives in a huge house. :D

If Drew would like to play that game, fine. Saban has the wild card, Daunte is just sitting at home waiting for us. Drew....he'd have to go play in NO. LOL

Drew knows what the right decision. Hopefully he will make it. Its staring him right in the face and it doesnt have $$$$$ all over it.

Use your brain Drew.

if drew choses to go were the money is than nola can have him bring in pepper than

Not that concerned if he does the it's all about money thing. As far as I can recall Saban said even thought he brought in Mularkey he was not changing the offense much which means that Culpepper would have an easier adjustment here than Brees would having played for Linehan in Minny. Less of a learning curve isn't so bad.

Let him go. $10 mil. a year and $10 mil. guaranteed...enjoy the bayou.

Drew was talkin about winning championships and whatnot, if he was serious about that he won't pick the team that has NEVER been CLOSE to one. If he was bull****tin and really cares about cash then he'll be a Saint, and lose a lot of games in his career. There's this guy whom was affectionatley called Shrek on here, I'd be more than happy to take Shrek AKA Daunte Culpepper as the future QB if Brees is $$$ hungry.

I really wanted Brees. But if he is demanding that much money than screw it. He's not worth 10 mil a year. Let the Saints GROSSLY overpay him.
As for Culpepper, I wouldn't pay anymore than a second-day pick. If we can get him for that, good. If not, oh well.

Two years ago, the franchise would have given Brees the $$$. However, Saban undertsands the value of each position and will not allow that value to be over compensated. Look at what the franchise has done in a short time. We have all kinds of FA's wanting to be part of what WILL be something special. If Brees signs then it will be on our terms. If he doesn't, I will predict that Brees will be hurt more than he is healthy. NO is not and will not be in the runninng for a playoff spot for years to come. In SABAN I TRUST!

Draft a QB forget risking these injured, overpriced, and quite possibly non-producing QBs.

There really must be some interesting accounting going on in the Phins FO. Somehow turning $6.3 mil in cap space into $5-$7 mil guaranteed money is nothing short of amazing. Of course I'm sure they're already counting on Frerotte's $7 mil plus possibly ZT and JT restructuring. At this point I hope you guys do get Brees, I want Leinart but it looks like we're ahead unfortunately......

I agree. Quarterback is only one of the areas we need to address. Saban probably won't mortgage the future by giving Brees an armored truck full of cash and losing the cap room we need to address our other areas of need. This is especially true when you consider that you're dealing with a QB who was not especially known for his arm strength to begin with and is still recuperating from a serious injury to his throwing shoulder. The Nicktator is so sneaky that he probably really wants Daunte and is engaging in a little misdirection.
