If we do go after T.O. who do you think would be a better fit with him?? Brees I believe has a better head on his shoulders and is accurate as hell but does not have that explosive arm like pepper. So what do you guys think would be the better match.

Brees
McMike
Chambers
TO
Brown

or

Culpepper
Chambers
TO
McMike
Brown

i doubt that we will get T.O. but if we do i think we have brees already in my mind.he will be a dolphin and i know that daunte wont because the ravens are going after him heavily by hearing all the news here in maryland

There is no way Saban takes another chance on a trouble maker......seriously!

i feel both guys are proven enough to be brought in as a vet, but if that is the case is saban possibly looking towards brady quinn in next year's draft?

First off I don't see Terrell Owens coming to Miami anymore. We might give him a more serious sniff when he becomes a free agent (and he WILL become one) but for now I think it's safe to shelf that idea.

That said, here's what I think.

History is the best indication of the future.

Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss survived a very tense situation in Minnesota, instigated in many parts by Randy's immature and sometimes aggressive behavior towards Daunte...and they survived all that with a pretty good rapport considering the tense situation and how everyone was saying the Vikes were trading Randy to get him out of Daunte's hair and allow Daunte to lead the team, etc. Randy Moss recently stated PUBLICLY that he would WELCOME Daunte Culpepper in Oakland...because above all he knows what kind of chemistry they possessed together and what kind of talent Daunte has, and the two never ripped a locker room apart like Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens.

On the other hand, Drew Brees and David Boston were put together for ONE YEAR, and the situation got so volatile between the two of them, that neither spoke to one another, and it was so bad that AJ Smith traded David Boston and his big contract to the Phins, and I believe took a significant salary cap hit in the process.

From a talent perspective, Drew Brees needs a Terrell Owens more than Daunte Culpepper does. On the other hand, from a talent perspective, Daunte has the weapons to make use of Terrell Owens in more dynamic ways than Brees.

But from a personality perspective, you put Drew Brees and Terrell Owens together, and you are asking...no, BEGGING for trouble. Brees does not have the knockout physical talent to shut Terrell Owens up to where he won't start talking about the guy like he did Jeff Garcia...soon as he senses that he's not as productive as he could be because Brees isn't getting him the ball good enough.

So really, if you want Terrell Owens to come to town, just make sure Daunte is the guy you get and not Brees. On the other hand, if you just make the decision that hey, we don't WANT Terrell Owens...then hey man go pick whichever QB you want.

I was trying to get some feedback on who would be a better fit with TO running routes. Brees or pepper??

How about we don't get TO cuz we already have our #1 dominant reciever who just doesn't get the damn ball enough... Until this year when he dropped some balls but next year he's gonna lead the league in something I guarantee. Brees + Chambers + Ronnie + McMike + solid o-line play = hardcore offense.

Thanks for the in depth analysis. It is much appreciated and the info I was looking for.:D

Put it this way I would buy a #9 jersey when he gets signed by Miami and it aint Jay. I will take accuracy over strong arm and smart decisions any day of the week. Unless they had the ability as Marino accuracy, strong arm, and good decisions.

I just don't know where all this money will be coming from. We still have a terrible Oline and we are supposed to give away all our cap space for an elite WR plus Culpepper and a second. We are still way over the cap at this point and we don't know how much we'll have to spend.IMO Culpepper would absorb most of it and will for years. We will have done nothing to the line, we have given away our second so where should we find Olinemen??? I guess they'll just fall out of the sky.

IMO, this team isn't in position to waste a pick and spend frivolously, plus there is a very good reason the Vikes are trying to get rid of him so cheap, when all they have is an aging veteran. We still have massive holes to fill. We have no NT or C or LT and depth at those positions isn't very good either. We can upgrade the QB position with a decent QB without breaking the bank. Saban is far to smart to waste money on players like Culpepper and TO at this point while leaving gaping holes everywhere else. Look what Saban did last year without capital!! We can be a very good team without an expensive QB. Also, I didn't even mention upgrading the secondary!!
