ESPN Hotlist said that Brees and the Chargers are unable to reach a deal and he will become a FA tomorrow.

They will search under the cushions in Wayne's private jet if the have to!

Maybe he'll sign a 1 year contract with the Dolphins and be given a wink wink promise to be taken care of with a long term contract next year after the CBA is setttled.

And who's going to give him that? Most of the teams in the NFL are in the same situation that we are in regards to the salary cap.

Alright this is step one towards acquiring Brees. I have not given up all hope yet. He is the best option out there as far as FA QBs go. Rookies take time, and wouldn't be winning for us right away like Brees possibly could.

Actually.....I heard that more than 1/2 the teams are under the cap.
Maybe half are under, but I seriously doubt half are under enough to give Brees a long term deal with a big bonus. The only two that I can think of off the top of my head are the Vikings and Philly, and neither need a QB. There are a few more, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

Saban better not screw this up. Brees must be in a Miami uniform this season. There isn't a better option out there in FA right now. If you have to drop Gus and a few others, do it. If you have to give away a second round pick, do it.

Brees is the kind of player that will put Miami back into the playoffs. That is why you pay him the big money. He will recover from his injury and continue to do well for many more years. That is another bright spot. He will be around for awhile. Also, any talk about Miami using their #16 pick on a QB will go away.

Don't screw this up Saban!
