We had two shots to get him and blew it both times.

Had he came to Miami either time you can't say he would have gone on to have the success he's had in New Orleans and even if he did succeed here he might have bolted once his contract ended anyway.

If that's what helps you sleep at night

You're right, and for that very reason we should NEVER sign talented players.

Just saying just because talented players come here doesn't mean they will succeed here. Brandon Marshall, Karlos Dansby, Wes Welker and Vontae Davis were better players else where than they were here. Having talent isn't enough, you have to have a coaching staff and organization that brings the most out of that talent. People are crazy to think that Welker would have had the same success with the parade of coaches, offensive philosophies and quarterbacks Miami has had as he did in New England with Brady and the Patriots offense.

Move on. He might not have developed under our staff. He took off under Sean Payton.

Does anyone remember in Jamar Fletcher's rookie year, in the preseason game against Atlanta: Fletcher was covering Peerless Price and it was an incomplete 9 route. Sam Madison came SPRINTING across the field and yelled at him, right in front of the sound shield on CBS and could be heard on national TV, "HEY FLETCH! DAT NIGGA AINT ****!"
