Brennan Marion signed with Dolphins - 31.9 ypc receiver

the article said he was a starting receiver and cornerback.. kid played both sides of the ball, atleast we know our special teams is going to be good with these kids there bringing in

Nice to hear had him on my list of players Miami scouted.

Taken via my SportingNews Draft guide:

Strengths: Has decent decent size and speed, and seems faster than his 40 time indicates. Has proven to be a deep threat. Creates seperation using his quickness at the snap. Has good body control and vision to change direction.

Weaknesses: Can be inconsistent catching passes and knocked off his route when jammed, then struggles to get back on course. Is not a polished route runner. Needs to get better at coming back to the ball. Must sustain his blocks better.

Bottom Line: Marion is a junior-college transfer who established himself as the go-to-receiver at Tulsa. He can make big plays down the field despite lacking great top-end speed. Marion is worth a mid- to late-round selection and could develop into a solid No. 3 receiver.

Good pick-up, going to be interesting with all these wide-receivers competing for spots now.

Not saying I doubted you but I had to double check the numbers. Holy smokes, 31.9 average is pretty impressive. I wonder what percentage were after the catch...Anybody more excited about this guy than our OSU WR pickup?

This is gonna be a hell of a mini camp for our receiving core.

From NFL Draft Scout Player Profile
04/05/09 - Former TU wide receiver Brennan Marion made an impression on Friday while taking part in a pro day at the University of Texas-Arlington. Marion worked out for about 15 NFL teams and ran his first timed 40-yard dash just 3 1/2 months after having major knee reconstruction surgery on Dec. 19. His time? A 4.55, which impressed those in attendance. "(The scouts) were happy about the 40 and told me not to do anything else," Marion said on Friday afternoon. Marion traveled to Indianapolis on Saturday, where he met with doctors working for the NFL draft. They confirmed that he's made good progress since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during the Dec. 6 loss to East Carolina in the Conference USA championship game. "It just feels good to be back on track," Marion said. "My legs are only going to get stronger." Marion will visit Miami next weekend for a workout and he added that Pittsburgh and Cleveland have been in contact with him. - Eric Bailey, Tulsa World

From CBS Sports
After playing at two different junior colleges, Marion stepped onto the Football Bowl Subdivision stage by scoring 11 touchdowns and averaging a whopping 31.9 yards on each of his 39 receptions (that's 1,244 yards) in Tulsa's high-octane offense in 2007. He followed up that second team All-Conference USA season with a first team all-conference 2008 where he merely averaged 25.9 yards per catch (43 receptions, 1,112 yards, eight scores). His frame is slight and his game has holes, but few college receivers have that sort of consistent big play ability. Missed bowl game with knee injury suffered making a cut on the last play of the Conference USA championship game.
