Love Grimes. Could become my favorite all time.
But this is the reason Ireland's ineptness enrages me. I think the team wins 10, 11 or even 12 games last season with Albert at LT and a few other pieces we passed on like retaining Fasano and/or Reggie Bush instead of inexplicably saving $23 million in cash (top 5 in the league) while having spent the least on offense than every team in the league except the raiders. They missed out on all the accolades and notoriety that would have came from becoming the team that finally unseats the Patriots and we very easily could have had a first round bye and some homefield advantage in the playoffs.
Ireland clearly did not believe the team was ready to compete last season so I believe he came up with a scheme to have everything come together this season and the Dolphins would finally arrive out of the ashes as a result of his brilliance. Epic ****ing shortsightedness, even for him.
The good news for us fans is he was kind of right to a degree, the team should be much better gelled, Tannehill should be up to speed, and he left his successor with some decent resources, so they should be ready to compete for not just the playoffs but the SB, right now!! And as a bonus we got to upgrade Sherman. And if you think about it we essentially have 14 draft picks, 14 unknowns and potential starters from the last 2 drafts. There's going to be some fierce competition at pretty much every position on the team, which means we could end up with some decent depth for a change.
I believe our own fans are severely underrating the team (not surprising with the taste left in our mouths) and we're going to take a huge step up surprising the entire NFL, scoring 30+ points on the regular. I'm even predicting a few 30 point victories. Just need to hope luck is on our side with the injuries and we just may turn the corner. All aboard the "excited" train!!
