Favre learns Miss. family home destroyed

NFL.com wire reports

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Aug. 30, 2005) -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre spent most of the last two days nervously waiting to hear from family members in his hometown of Kiln, Miss., in the heart of the Gulf Coast area devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

It's amazing the adversity this guy has gone through, yet he keeps bouncing back.

Now i'm going to have to hear more excuses from Packer fans when he throws stupid interceptions in big games, and the announcers of course will kiss his ***. "Ah who cares about the 5 picks, the mans Family home flooded down". Sad yes...but at least he wasn't in the house, that's all i care about out.

:shakeno:
i dont think packers fans is gooing to use this as an excuses. Favre will not use to as excuses, hes the type of player who knows when he makes a mistakes and wont blame it on anything else. He might of not been in the house but his family was, Favre is admazing and one of the best QB ever to play the game and hes been through alot in the past 2 years, from his father dying to his brother in law i think dying, Wife having breast cancer and now this. I respect everything this guys dose.

You really think Packer fans wont come up with excuses if he plays poor? There are plenty of Packer fans here in Philadelphia, and when he lost them that playoff game last year and the year before, all i heard was excuses about how he's emotionally distraught and stuff. I mean he could be, he's only Human and i'm sure he is. But i dont think you can write off things like that for the guys mistakes. Brett certainly wouldn't. I love Brett Favre, i'm not trying to knock him or anyone in his family, but if i hear anyone using his recent troubles as a pedestal for him, i'll throw up.

if im not mistaken when favre's father died that monday night game favre had one of the best game of his life, i dont think he will play bad first of all, but i dont think they will blame it on what happen, he can play good in these situations

Favre sucks. He is way overated. he thorws interceptions whenever the game is on the line. (i have proof if you want to argue that.)
i dont believe he loves the game more than anyone else. Look at Jerry Rice, who is the oldest player in the NFL, besides for Kicker Morten Anderson.

WTF???!!! How did this turn into a debate about Brett Farve? This was about personal loss outside of football... geeze guys...

I didn't begin this thread

about Favre to discuss how overrated he is or not. Simply to air a human interest story about a future hall of fame qb who has dealt with alot of roadblocks in his life in the past couple years. I think he's a classy guy who has been dealt some severe blows and keeps bouncing back. Nothing more - nothing less.

The last I heard of Steve McNair he hadn't heard from some of his family in Mississippi.

What a ****ing ridiculous classless post. This deals with personal loss of his FAMILY in the gulf coast. We dont need a "Favre sucks" debate in this thread. Go make a thread about Favre sucks somewhere else.

Considering that Brett Favre is better than EVERY, single Washington Redskins QB combined!. Theismoron, Williams, Rypien, Jurgenson, Kilmer, Baugh, Schuler, Ramsey, Johnson, Matthews, Wuerffell, Hasslebeck, Brunell YOU Name it. That was a very stupid comment.

Yah...he sucks.

Considering he is top 5 in EVERY Q.B. category there is, has'nt missed a game in about 609748560984590 years, has a ring and a few M.V.P.'s to his credit....

I won't get into the debate about whether the media tends to fawn over him too much (that is for another time). I will debate whether the guy is a gamer.

I can't name more then 5 Q.B.'s who have ever played that I would take over Favre. He throws dumb INT's and sometimes makes boneheaded decisions...that being said he has also won a TON of games by taking the same chances that caused him to look bad sometimes.

ON TOPIC: The guy lost his Dad, his brother in law, his wife got breast cancer and now the home he grew up in was destroyed and his family barely got out with their lives...that is a LOT for someone to go through in a lifetime let alone a span of 2 years.
