Brian Baldinger and Daniel Thomas

:bobdole:..Is that all you use for your arguments is stats.
The only thing he has to rely on. I seriously don't think he has ever posted an observation after watching a guy play. I also believe that you and I have discussed his lack of posting ability before, so there's no point in rehashing it.

I dont know Magoo. Thomas has looked powerful. He's not a little shrimp running through defenses.

I didn't say he was a shrimp. I just said he doesn't -- and never will -- have Brown's power or tackle breaking ability. Ronnie's power was rare, in my view. His problem was his hips and his vision, both of which were only average at best. But in his day he was one of more powerful running backs in the NFL and had good burst (though with limited top end speed).

Thomas is a slasher with elite feet for someone his size. But he's not a tremendously powerful back not only because of his pad level but because that's just the way he's built. In boxing some guys have powerful punches and some guys don't. Just as some guys have a really quick jab and others don't. It's not a height/weight/arm length thing, it's just the way they're built.

Oh ok I understand what you mean now. But Thomas is more than powerful enough to be a damn good all around back. He's no Peterson but he's also no Johnson.

Unfortunately neither of those 2 people are drafting, or evaluating free agency talent for this franchise!

must admit Thomas has looked good the past two games but being out another game is really starting to throw up red flags. hope we dont have the same Ronnie Brown arguement he is not injury prone he is just unlucky lol

But they both excel at sitting out games injured....I'd settle for a decent back that can play 16 games a ****ing season

Actually Thomas was very durable in college. I don't think he missed a start in two years and played with a bum shoulder apparently for much of his last year, which tells you a lot about his toughness. His problem with his hamstring sucks but he'll get over it. He never had issues with it in college and I'd much rather a guy sit out a game because of a bum hamstring than a knee sprain or something like that. Going forward it's not an injury with a negative predictive connotation.

Brown was never durable in college, even in his relatively limited duty. The thought on him coming out was that he had so much wear left on his tires being a backup that he would be more durable than the normal back, but that didn't happen. The guy with the most wear on his tires in that draft, Cedric Benson, has actually been the most durable back of the three of them in the NFL.

So to ensure I get this right......

You're crowing about having the upper hand in terms of judging how
good or bad a player is because you have the context of two games to go on?

Careful.

Let me tell you a little story about a man named Troy Stratford. Troy
played for the Miami Dolphins. He was named the AFC OROY in his
rookie year. Six seasons later he was out of the NFL with 1380 yards on 356 carries
and 10 TDs.

Right now your opinion is about as valid as mine, Tony Sparano's, Brian Baldinger's or
anyone elses.

You can't bring up Troy StraDford and not mention his receiving skills......just off my memory he was a great receiver and that's how I remember him. Giving just his rushing numbers doesn't do Troy justice. I wonder who are QB was during the Stradford years........some guy named Marino, pretty sure not many running backs had huge rushing numbers with Dan under center.
