I'm probably going to get ripped by some on here but in my opinion Hartline should not sniff an NFL starting lineup. He cannot get open vs. man coverage at all. He doesn't win any jump ball battles. He drops too many passes. He still rounds out his intermediate routes. Why is this guy starting? We need true playmakers, chain movers, and scorers on our offense. Why are the Dolphins and their fan base so content with this guy? Do they not realize that in todays NFL you can't have Brian Hartline type of talent starting? Cmon Sparano and Ireland. Wake up!

Not a big fan either - apparently neither is the FO and that's why the took Gates

I agree we need a true deep threat and playmaker as the #2 receiver and Hartline does not fit either one of those qualities.

don't disagree at all....

was actually just talking about this at length with all my phins buddies today... who exactly does hartline scare? how exactly does hartline help bmarsh?

tired of all the ciggarillos, welkers and hartlines... we need a two headed monster... give me a moss, or TO, or braylon....we need playmakers, not guys who fill a roster spot.

I've seen him be overthrown on numerous occasions as well so I wouldn't say he can't get open. Maybe that's because of Marshall and Bess, but I've see him open several times.

Well, lets see ...

In 2009 he played in 16 games and caught 31 passes for 506 yds.
In 2010 he played in 12 games and caught 43 passes for 615 yds.

I'd kinda like to see what an improving player that we drafted can do in year three.

You won't get any flack for saying that....now. Those of us who criticized him for dropping more passes than he caught in preseason last year were greeted with the "it's just preseason, the sky isn't falling" type posts. Then he played almost exactly as he did in the preseason and everyone got to see him for what he really was- a guy who didn't deserve to be starting and on the field for most of his offense's snaps.

If he cant get open then how does he get catches? He had 600 yards in just 12 games last year...Most people are begging for Mike Sims Walker who did what last year? 14 games, 562 yards?

Brian Hartline is the one player that isn't overrated, if anything underrated. The guy never gets any attention, always treated like some garbage player, and probably gonna be rated like 73 in madden.

Well henne overthrows and underthrows him a lot... he's not that bad but hey sparano and Ireland doesn't want a good #2 Wr so Hartline it is

tbh hartline is a pretty good wr.. he gets good seperation... i cant count how many times he was open last season and henne over threw him or under threw him...

Welker? Really? Yeah look at him killing in New England the past how many years.. Thank goodness we got rid of him!

Those could advance to 60 catches this year and whats gonna matter most is that he lets way too many plays go through his hands. A receiver can get stats through opportunity, but that doesn't mean he is starting caliber.

hartline could be a beast if henne could only connect with the guy more.. maybe thats why hes throwing to him more in tc

Agreed. Not impressed with Hartline...

Hopefully Gates steps up...but it sounds like he is having issues with routes. May be a while before he could be the #2...
