Brian Hartline is overrated

Well, lets see ...

In 2009 he played in 16 games and caught 31 passes for 506 yds.
In 2010 he played in 12 games and caught 43 passes for 615 yds.

I'd kinda like to see what an improving player that we drafted can do in year three.

Whatever happened to the rule of waiting for players to develop?

How come only white guys are "deceptively quick"? Problem you guys have is that's he's white and doesn't play the slot.

You're quoting a guy who just completely defended the guy and is laughing at these ridiculous posts... yours included. Jesus, posters on this forum can't even figure out who they are disagreeing with anymore!

(And he's deceptively quick. He's a 4.5 guy who somehow plays at a 4.4 level. That's deceptively quick because his timed numbers are pretty meh but on the field he looks quick. Hence the deception. )

Devone Bess is deceptively quick too so quick make a black joke now

The problem I have with Hartline is that I don't see him as a deep threat. That may be in part because we just don't seem to throw deep, but I think that is partly because of Hartline just plain not having the straightline speed. I know he is supposed to be fast, but I just don't see it when it comes to "game speed."

And this is completely opposite of what is reality.

Point is: The guy is improving!

But, yeah - he's not an All-Pro after two seasons, so he's trash. :bobdole:

Because I quoted doesn't mean I disagree with him, and like it or not, the term "deceptively quick" is almost always used as a descriptor for a white guy. Similar to how people use the term "well spoken" to describe an educated black man.

Guy has his head on a swivel and makes a superb "quick reflexes" catch after an utterly atrocious throw by Chad Henne and you're trying to make him sound like he a terrible job. He broke up the INT, and had the reflexes to tap it to himself, catch it, all while a guy is right next to him trying to knock him down.

Good grief.

I usually see "more quick than fast" for white guys.

Sometimes, this place gives me a headache. :chuckle:

Later, boys - I'm off to the bar. :ffic:

Didn't he have more TD's and a better yards per catch than both Marshall and Bess ? I thought he was really coming on before he got hurt. Not sure but I remember 80 and 90 yard games just before the injury. After he went out they lost every game if I'm not mistaken. Not a super star but a very solid reciever in my book.

Don't get me wrong. Hartline is not terrible. He just shouldn't be starting in this league. He is your classic average #4 WR on an NFL roster.

I'll have to disagree with the op and at the same time....eat a little crow.

I was not happy when we drafted Hartline out of OSU; however, he has turned into a pretty good WR who actually has decent hands and separation! I hope he continues to improve and I hope Henne will do a better job of getting him the ball.

I under-estimated Hartline; he's a tough, gritty kid and a decent WR so far. :bdh:

He's white!

This thread is a fail based on the criticism of Welker alone. Throw Hartline on the Patriots and see what his numbers become.

Whatever happened to the rule of waiting for players to develop?
Develop? Is that a real word or something you made up?

Though I guess Hartline was just next in line to get a thread bashing him. Every other player and coach has a thread saying they "suck" or are "overrated", so it was only a matter of time. Next up, "Wake is overrated" or maybe "Randy Starks is overpaid".

Wake and Starks are Pro-Bowlers. Hartline? Why does this guy get a free pass?
