Brian Hartline is overrated

In truth, I don't think he is that bad of a receiver... He gets open and is a little faster than people give him credit for... He does need to work on his drops a bit but he is a third year player and has improved steadily in his first two years.... I think that he will have a good season, especially when we are able to bring in Gates to streatch the field...

If one of the youngsters beat him out so be it but as of now he's clearly our 3rd best reciever. As with everyone else if we get better play from the QB he will look MUCH better. I also remember a few times he was behind his man waving his arms but the QB never throw it to him.

Hartline only slays creme de la creme

You're quoting a guy who just completely defended the guy and is laughing at these ridiculous posts... yours included. Jesus, posters on this forum can't even figure out who they are disagreeing with anymore!

(And he's deceptively quick. He's a 4.5 guy who somehow plays at a 4.4 level. That's deceptively quick because his timed numbers are pretty meh but on the field he looks quick. Hence the deception. )

Devone Bess is deceptively quick too so quick make a black joke now

And this is completely opposite of what is reality.

Really? And just how many deep balls did he catch last year? Opposite of reality my ***! So, you think the opposite team was shaking in their boots lining up against him?

Don't get me wrong. Hartline is not terrible. He just shouldn't be starting in this league. He is your classic average #4 WR on an NFL roster.

That about sums it up. If he was coming in because we had a star #2 that got hurt...I would be cheering him on. But as our #2...pitiful...

Well Personally I don't like him as our #2 WR and would like to have a burner opposite of Brandon Marshall but he isn't overrated because only some Dolphins fans and the coaching staff thinks he's any good.

Seriously! Harline isnt even rated, I mean literally! third year player who most NFL fans outside of Florida never even heard about... Overated?? C'mon man...

Fact is that Hartline could be a nice player, and he may even be able to be a #2 on a team with a well established qb, but we have a qb that obv needs some serious help.
Point is that when you have an opportunity to bring in Breaston, Rice, or Edwards and have a SPECIAL receiver corps but you stick with the mediocrity that is brian hartline, i just think thats a bull**** losing attitude and thats why were a losing franchise.

News flash, the Miami receiving corp isn't the problem. We aren't exactly hindered by Brian Hartline being the 3rd of 4th option.

Get used to this pattern this year.

Henne looks to Marshall. He is double teamed. Then Henne looks to Hartline. He is unable to get open against single coverage. Then Henne checks down. Rinse and repeat all year long. On the bright side at least Reggie will be the check down guy this year.

Hartline has led the team in yards per reception and yards after catch each of the last two seasons. Last year, he dropped only 4 passes, compared to 6 drops for Bess and 13 for Marshall. When he broke his finger, he was on pace for a 65 catch, 800 yard season. And he was on one heckuva good run in the 4 games leading up the injury:

4 catches, 85 yards
5 catches, 98 yards
5 catches, 70 yards
4 catches, 75 yards

That is solid, solid production. And of our 3 main WR, he is the fastest. If anything, Harline is underrated.

Hartline is not a #2 on any other team in the NFL. I'm rooting for the guy but his routes look awkward and although I believe he has hands...I think he gets mentally distracted out there - he gets frantic IMO. He fell down a few times last year for no damn reason and cost us a couple of interceptions.

We need a #2 WR and a #1TE in order to compete with the big boys.

i'm not gonna say he's overrated...he was a 4th round pick...many thought he'd be a specials only guy early in his career...but i am gonna say that he's not enough of a win guy vs single coverage...b marsh and even bess in the slot got all the attention from the defense last year double coverage etc and hartline doesn't win one on one matchups enough...he doesn't scare opposing defensive coordinators i've never seen them bracket him since he's been in the league pretty much...pretty much just like anthony fasano in that regard...no respect from the safeties vs cover 2 teams just man him up all over the field and if he makes a play so be it...he's not a game breaker

but i don't blame hartline for not being a good #2 wr in the pros...i blame sparano and ireland and company for never seeing that a upgrade needs to be brought in...derrick mason at even 35 years old would take his spot in a nanosecond but just like a lot of other positions it doesn't seem like we value upgrading the talent all that much here...pretty baffling if you ask me

and as for gates...he looks to me like he's gonna play more the flanker roll run the vertical routes take the defense with him and have guys open underneath cause they have to respect his speed...hopefully he can keep the safeties deep and we can operate underneith with bess and marshall and company...i don't think he's a threat to hartline in the short term at least as the #2 wr...different roles
