I wonder how much of Fisher's postering is directly related to who he can get as a staff to follow him to MIA vs STL?
I know a lot of the media has stated the QB situation is better in STL, but honestly a new coach doesn't want an old coach's QB. No matter how good and young the QB is the new coach didn't draft him or teach him. Loyalty is a funny thing. But I'm pondering the bigger picture. What if he has a better chance of getting his select staff if he comes to MIA?
I think it all factors into the equation: money, staff, roster, owner, draft position and even the city.
Of the many problems Fisher had in Tennessee, I recall the Vince Young vs. Matt Leinart. Fisher and staff wanted Leinart. With Norm Chow as their OC (same guy who coached Leinart most of USC career), the staff saw a familiar QB who could step into their system. Ownership won out and Vince Young was drafted. I think that really become a sore spot with Fisher.
As the posturing has continued, I've actually come to appreciate Fisher's patience. I think he is legitimately looking at the entire situation and trying to decide where can can succeed long term. If he thinks we are the place best suited for him, then not only am I happy to have him as a coach but also happy he believes we have a better front office and ownership compared to another franchise.
This is all JMHO.
