Briggs Won't Play For Chi-town Again

He doesn't really fit our scheme, as has been mentioned everytime his name pops up. No go, especially at his salary.

Sorry Lance, you've been tagged. Good luck in Chicago because we simply aren't going to do it. I would think it's obvious that we are going to be bearish about FA. Chicago tagged him so they would want a whole lot more than we will give.

BRIGGS SAYS HE'S DONE WITH BEARS
Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that Bears linebacker Lance Briggs has vowed to never play again for the Chicago Bears.
"I am now prepared to sit out the year if the Bears don't trade me or release me," Briggs told Glazer. "I've played my last snap for them. I'll never play another down for Chicago again."
Though one of the primary reasons for the decisions is the team's refusal to try to sign him to a long-term deal, Briggs also said that he's ready to step out of the shadows of middle linebacker Lance Briggs and be "the guy" somewhere else.
"
I've talked to Brian about it," said Briggs. "I'm a competitor and I want the same thing he has. I've learned a lot from Brian as a player and a leader and I eventually want to be 'the man' somewhere. I want to be like him and have everything put on me too. Obviously I'll never be able to do that there."

If Briggs sits out the entire season, his rights will remain with the Bears, and they will be able to slap the franchise on him again.
Our take? Briggs is trying to create sufficient acrimony in the relationship so that the Bears will decide that it makes no sense to hold onto his rights -- and thus work out a trade. The problem is that, by going public with his intent to never play for the Bears again, the team necessarily has less leverage for a trade.---PFT
What else is new, just deiced i post it.

because the Bears FO is stupid, they took a long time to re-Sign Lovie Smith for god sake. I'm sure they are low balling Briggs and he's sick of it by now

I think they offered him 6 /35 million last year and not sure how much was gareented but now wwith this market he wants a huge deal.

maybe, if thats the case then pay the man or he will be a 49er soon

This could get very ugly if no team gives them something in return. There is no way the Bears would just release him, they would rather see him sit the year.
Im just curious, What picks do the 49ers have? Everyone is so certain the 49ers will get him, do they even have a lot of cap space? Last I heard, they spent a lot of money already. They are going to be sick if they land him too. What an offseason.

i think hes being dumb about this. hes due what? 7.2 million this year with the franchise tag?! i cant disagree with him about his issue but he has to be smarter than this about the situation. hopefully for him chicago will cave in and deal him out, but i dont see that happening.

Can you imagine if for some reason we give our two seconds for him?

No chance, but Porter and Crowder on the outside, and Thomas and Briggs on the inside.

LOL. Ohhhhh the humanity.

Briggs is an idiot. The man is set to make over $7mil as their franchise player. All he has to do is play another good season (on a superbowl caliber team no less) and he'll make even more money as a free agent next year. I'm sorry but I have a hard time feeling sympathy for a guy set to make over $7mil and is still whining like a baby about money.
