Now that we have Jake Long signed, sealed and delivered I still think we take at least two more lineman in this years draft. Unless someone like Cherilus falls to our pick at the top of the 2nd round I would think we will wait until 2b before going o-line again. I have to think Cherilus would be tempting if he falls there due to our lack of tackles on the roster.

Me personally, I am hoping for either Antoine Cason, Kenny Phillips or Quinton Groves with pick number 32. One scenario I will watch with interest is what Atlanta does with pick #3, if they pass on Matt Ryan and Brohm or Flacco slide to #32 they could make an interesting offer to the Dolphins since they have 3 picks in both round 2 and 3.

Facts are facts guys, Atlanta does not have a decent QB on the roster and next years crop is nothing to write home about. Could put some added pressure for them to wheel and deal.

From 2b through the rest of our picks I would be happy to see any of the following: John Greco, Chilo Rachal, Roy Schuenig, Mike Mglynn, Duane Brown, Anthony Collins, Chad Rhinehart or Shawn Murphy and I would be quite pleased.

Throw in Red Bryant or Ahytba Rubin on the D-line and I am ecstatic. Last year I got really sick of seeing both of our lines getting man handled and pushed around. I really want to walk away with a few big guys this year that are punishing lineman and refuse to be pushed off the ball. Whether its on offense or defense skill players have a more difficult time doing their jobs when the big uglies up front dont do theirs.

Just my two cents.

I don't see us drafting another tackle on the first day. I know a lot of people think that we should draft another tackle and move Carey back to guard. That idea needs to stop. Tackle is more important than guard, and Carey has already proven himself at both spots, why mess that up?

I'm hoping for Groves at 32, if he is gone we should just take the best player that fell, whether that be Brohm, Sweed, Cason...who knows.

I agree with the sentiment here: Bring on the Beef!!!

I say we draft another big OL with #32 and let him and Vern Carey battle it out for the RT spot, with the loser playing RG. The knock on Carey all these years has been his lack of intensity. Light a fire under his arse!!! Draft some competition for the dude. Bring on the Beef!

What about LG?

Is that position solidified? I thought that was still a position of need in this draft.

I am hearing BP and co love Jeremy Zuttah from rutgers... he can be had in the 3rd/4th round

I'm all for more O linemen in the draft just not with the next 3 picks. We have addressed that area for three years with top drafted talent. Its forming nicely but we have other areas that need help. Linebacker would be the next spot I would like to see them go in the second round, or even wide reciever or CB.

Maybe add some competition in the 6-7 rounds. We have too many holes to fill to spend another top level pick on the oline. And i think with Long our oline is going to start looking real good real fast, no matter how the positional breakdown occurs or even if we don't draft any other guys.

No doubt, as much as some try to complicate the universe, football is a simple game rooted in fundamentals, and the LOS is where all the fundamentals start.

Simple fact, if you win at the LOS you will win the game. Certainly there are exceptions to the rule --- every now a then a team can get lucky and pull a win out of a lost game. But the rock solid percentages are with the team that wins the big game up front.

On the other hand, being soft at the LOS is death blow in the most fundamental aspect. And with inferior OL and/or DL play --- it’s almost impossible to evaluate the balance of your supporting cast. Case in point, if your teams RB is getting stuffed 2 yards in the backfield, or ducking for his life at the hand-off, then it’s pretty obvious his lack of production may not be his own fault.

Another example is QB protection --- which essentially defines a teams passing game. Lacking time and comfort in the pocket, Marino or Bradshaw or Montana (or pick your own example) suddenly aren’t so good.

On the D side, the inability to stop the run is the surest way to a massive hemorrhage. No pass rush pressure and even the best DB’s will get burned.

This brings me a basic point about the Dolphins now, and what’s best for the future of this team. We’ve suffered under weak OL play for YEARS. Last year we added Satele, which provided immediate benefits, but the OL is still weak, and IMO needs to remain our #1 PRIORITY simply because it is the most fundamental and basic aspect of having a productive offense.

Obviously, we also need help of the DL side, but we have some young talent there and a nice addition at NT via FA. I say build a CHAMPIONSHIP quality OL first, and then do the same on the D side. Once the LOS is solid on both sides, fill in the missing skill position players. I understand this is not the most exciting way of conducting business, but it is (IMO) the sure fire way to build a high-level team.

I think we take NIcks with the #32 unless were confident hell be there with #57. He is a great player and can play 4 positions on the line. If not Rachal/Greco/Scheuning in the 3rd/4th
