The Dolphins -- who were scheduled to work out Michigan quarterback Chad Henne on Tuesday, have inquired about scheduling a private session with Louisville's Brian Brohm, who also could be available at pick No. 32. . . . The first round has only 31 picks -- New England forfeited its first round selection as punishment for Spygate. The University of Arkansas said no Dolphins official attended its pro day Tuesday -- more evidence that Darren McFadden is not on the Dolphins' radar.
I would be surprised to see Brohm fall to #32, but if he did, I would be all over drafting him. Henne seems a little high at #32, though I don't think he would be around at #57.

Kind of figured we wouldn't be looking at McFadden.

Not being interested in McFadden to me is a good sign. Might mean Ronnie's rehab is coming along nicely.

not sending ONE team official to the pro day is stupid IMO ... doesn't matter if you dislike McFadden, there are other players worth a peek (Felix Jones and the senior RB who never played but has huge potential) .... those two are the ones who come to my mind but there surely are others

I smell a double-smokescreen...I don't know what that means either.
That smokescreen talk really started to heat up here when Saban was hired. Trust me, someone will try to find a meaning for it soon.

The smokescreen term was barely used in the Wannstedt/Speilman era because really, they can't fool anyone.

Remember the trade up they made to acquire Carey? Was that even neccesary, really?

Yes. We got PANTSED on that one! The pick we sent the Pats was then traded to the Bengals to get Corey Dillon!!!

We trade 2 first rounders to rent Ricky for 2 productive years and the Pats get Corey Dillon for moving down one slot!!!! The horror!!!

The only surprise about not being at Arkansas' pro day is that it means they're not interested in OG Robert Felton, DT Marcus Harrison, WR Marcus Monk, CB Michael Grant or FB Peyton Hillis.

McFadden was NEVER part of the equation. Bill Parcells ADAMANTLY believes that it is folly to take a RB that high because the position is rife with durability issues. Felix Jones wasn't ever really part of the equation either, IMO. Too small. I doubted we'd be in there for Peyton Hillis anyway, we have Mauia and Grigsby and that's enough.

But Harrison and Felton are surprising. Felton's a road grater, I thought they'd appreciate that. Harrison is quite the athlete, projected as a possible NT too. He's 6'3" and 317 runs a 5.06. He fits right into Bill Parcells' classic planet theory. This could be proof that Parcells isn't just blowing smoke about not wanting dopers on his team, as Harrison was caught with ecstasy and marijuana in his car. I also would have thought Michael Grant would be a prime candidate. Has 5'10" and 186 pound size, known as a good press corner with experience both at safety and corner. He was questioned on his speed but blazed a 4.37 in Indy. They could be playing possum on him, I dunno. Marcus Monk I also thought would be a candidate to serve as another big-bodied WR.

Plenty of time for private workouts and visits. I put absolutely no stock into who and how many representatives go to pro days.

If the Dolphins sent their entire coaching staff to a pro day it still wouldn't mean anything.

Frankly I don't believe it means anything not being there...Parcells has been known to not bring in players he wants until the last minute. Sometimes we act like these players just fell off the moon...they have been watched since High School in many cases...and the scouts know everything they need to know. Sometimes it's the guy that doesn't get the attention...thats the real target.

CKP are there positions where the pro-day is even more insignificant than we perceive? if Monk ran and caught at the combine what else is there?

this kinda fits into the small board philosophy we alledgedly have, but I wonder why Monk wouldn't be on our board

Marcus Monk's performance is why I believe the Dolphins would have had a representative at his Pro Day if they were actually interested in him. If you're going to buy that 4.43/4.41 forty time, you're going to want to have seen it run. You're going to want to have seen the track, what he was wearing, how he looked when he ran it, you want your own thumb on the stopwatch so that you know that isn't just some ridiculously fast thumb or something like that.

this 40 crap is getting to rediculous

the Razorback RB's were getting trained by Michael Johnson, that is all I need to know

I would like to see MJ get off a CB's jam with that with that stupid sprinter's starting stance

I get that it is a benchmark of athleticism, but cmon

how about a similar benchmark where they must start standing up and run around 1 pylon at the start?(to simulate what receivers do)

Not many people here talking about the possibility of Brohm being a Fin.

I don't see him still there at 32, but if he were, what a great pickup he'd be. I have a lot of faith in John Beck but if the BPA is exceptional value at any pick, I think he has to be taken. Brohm would be incredible value at #32.

Yeah! I'm surprised also, especially on those two guys. I know Harrison had some character issues, but i thought he'd would be worth taking a look at. He seems he'd be a good fit in the 3-4 as a NT. He has the size and a plays with a nasty streak. LT wasn't exactly a model citizen either.

Like you said, Monk seems to have the size that I thought we'd be interested in. I heard on NFLN today that he had a good pro-day and is in good shape and doing well from his injury, or something to that effect. Who knows..
