Bromell maybe coming back

"O'Leary believes he has a penchant for making bad decisions."

Is that not the pot calling the kettle "black" or what?

and

What's up with Steinberg coming back for more money.

I do not see this happening for 3 reasons
  1. he make too much $ for our cap
  2. we still have Burnett and J Williams as vet backups
  3. D Bo is not out for the year
    [/list=1]

Lets hope this doesn't happen. He gets an unnecessary roughness penalty almost every time he gets a sack. We have 5 DEs (if you include DBo) who are better than Bromell.

I see it happening if Bromell is released. Its late in the game for his contract to really cost any amount of money, and the demand right now is for DTs not DEs. If LoBro can't make it in Minnesota where the passrush ain't good, then other teams will not committ $$$ to him.

Anyway Jason Cole did it again. Couple days ago I asked him a detailed question about Lorenzo Brommell, telling him that LoBro was getting dangerously close to being cut in Minnesota now that Kevin Williams has been moved to DE. I wasn't the only one this time though I think someone else asked him a short question about LoBro. Jason replied "Sure. Miami liked him and he loved the town of Miami. I could see that happening"

Sure enough, he did a little checkup and found some sources within the organization that say they'd be very interested in LoBro if he comes back.

A small bit from Minnesota.........

Eyes on Bromell: Lorenzo Bromell, signed to a five-year, $11 million deal last season, is battling fellow veteran Chuck Wiley for a roster spot. Because he has trade value, Bromell probably won't be cut.

"We want to see what Lorenzo can do,'' defensive coordinator George O'Leary said. "He has to get healthy.''

One possible suitor would be his former team, the Miami Dolphins, who have suffered several injuries on their line.

The Vikings want to keep eight defensive linemen, but one of the last two spots will go to a young player. Bromell fell behind Wiley because he missed much of camp with a knee injury sustained when he fell off a bicycle in Mankato. He is expected to play tonight.

The Vikings have been disappointed in Bromell, signed as a free agent before last season. He had 21½ sacks in four seasons with the Dolphins but just four last season with Minnesota as a backup to Lance Johnston.

Im comfortable with what we got......we dont need a 3rd down DE anymore we got plenty.

Didn't this fool do this or something similar just prior to training camp one of the years he was in Miami? Pretty innovative (and insane) way to miss a good chunk of TC.

Why would signing Brommel will be a bad move?:hmmm:

It will only add more depth to defensive line.Brommel is more pass rusher specialist not every down lineman like Vikings thought he could be.

That was Kenny Mixon, who got into a motorcycle crash.

Anyway our depth right now consists of Jay Williams and Otis Grigsby. D-Bo will be out until November, and judging from the last time he got injured until the latter part of the season he'll find it tough to break into the lineup. Rob Burnett just had surgery on his knee and will MAYBE be back for the season opener.

I'd sign LoBro just to get a look at him and see if he's any better than Burnett.

Thanks for the clarification. The two of them have always been kind of interchangable in my head because they were both defensive lineman from southern schools I didn't know much about, were in the same draft class, and flew the coup via free agency in the same year to the land of 10,000 lakes.

As a side note, I heard Vikings coach Mike Tice on Golic & Greenberg this morning really talking up Kenny Mixon when referring to their D-linemen. He didn't mention Bromell.

Mixon has been moved to the right side. Will be interesting to see how he does.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bromell come back at all. Remember, he would only be a situational player. Strictly a pass rusher. Remember how good he was when we'd move him inside on 3rd downs??

Bromell won't be traded. Not when he's running 4th team with that contract They will be forced to flat out release him if it comes down to it.

LMAO! Our depth is Jay Williams and OTIS GRIGSBY? :rofl. Grigsby sucks, he will be cut maybe this week possible next week. He blew against the Jags. He missed tackles, got run over, he just sucks.

Hmmmm MY biggest memory of Brommell is him cracking open Peyton Manning's jaw and getting a penalty for it. However, it took Peyton out of the game for a few plays and I believe in the time he was gone we got an int to seal the win in that game. I take him if he is cut because we could probably sign him cheap ad add another pass rusher who can move inside on obvious passing situations. I liked him better than Mixon and was adamant about resigning him last year (although it worked out for Miami to not).

It is definately somethng to keep an eye on if you ask me.
