pats interested in brown lol .. heres the link

Quick peek reveals well-stocked roster - N.E. Patriots - BostonHerald.com

Running backs (4): Laurence Maroney [stats], Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk [stats], Heath Evans [stats].
On the bubble: Justise Hairston, Quadtrine Hill.
If the Patriots harbored any second thoughts about parting with Corey Dillon [stats], Maroney sealed the deal. The explosive back proved worthy of his first-round pick, averaging 4.3 yards a carry. The question is how he’ll handle being the lead runner. He has shared touches since college and is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.
Morris replaces Dillon. The former Dolphin is solid in just about every area, but a standout in none. He runs hard between the tackles, however, and has decent hands. One of the keys is Faulk, a safety valve on third down with great hands and shiftiness, particularly on screens. Evans will have a home as long as he continues opening holes and excelling on special teams.
Don’t rule out the Pats adding a veteran like Tennessee’s Chris Brown, as well. Otherwise, Hairston will have to impress on special teams to stick.

i think they will pull this off.. just a hunch.. DAMN WE ARE STACKED THIS YEAR. i havent been this excited since... last year lol.

The Patriots have been showing interest in Brown for a while.

Here's the latest

While the Pats have made contact with free agent Chris Brown, nothing is imminent in terms of bringing the 6-foot-3, 220-pound former Tennessee Titans [team stats] running back aboard to shore up the backfield.
“We’ve had some cursory conversations with the Patriots,” said Wynn Silberman, who represents Brown. “They respect what Chris can do. They felt he may prove to be a nice fit in their offensive scheme, a nice complement to (Laurence) Maroney and the very legitimate backs they have, but at this point, we’re in a little bit of a holding pattern. We want to make sure it’s the right situation for Chris, and if Chris is going to be involved in a dual-back, or supporting role. We want to make sure he’s contributing in the best way possible. We’ve agreed to sit tight, continue talking, and see what happens.”

Sounds like the Pats are concerned about Maroney's durability and ability to be the main back on a regular basis? There is only one "rock" and you can bring in 10 receivers and 5 RB's....keep getting those one-year-rent-a-players and we'll see how far it takes you.

Yeah but at the same time, you have WAY more question marks than last season.

Question marks? You mean, like...

Randy Moss or Reche Caldwell?

Donte Stallworth or Jabbar Gaffney?

Adelius Thomas or Tully Banta-Cain?

I have a sudden appreciation for AquaMarks...?

:D:D:D

:boohoo: Have fun celebrating a new Super Bowl title.

Everything the Patriots do just seem like a last minute desperation act. I don't think they'll pan out. I think Brady and those receivers won't cooperate, although I think Brady and Welker will get along. I think Moss and Stallworth will be FAs next year.

Unless it's a total personality conflict, I see absolutely no issue there. Brady was pretty productive throwing to Caldwell & Gaffney last season, and the latter joined the roster on halloween! He was pretty productive by the playoffs, to the point that Caldwell is likely the odd man out this year.

Moss, Stallworth, Welker & Washington are all in town and will participate in the offseason OTA's over the next few weeks. I think they'll be more than ready by the beginning of the season. It actually helps that Chad Jackson and Troy Brown will not be taking any throws until July at best due to their surgeries, so Brady can concentrate on the same number of wr's as last year. The difference is the huge leap in talent between the two groups.

As for 'acts of desperation', I strongly disagree. They planned for this free agency period as well as any team ever has, and pulled the trigger decisively. Thomas, Welker, Brady, MNorris, & James were all good to great fits at need positions. Moss was a surprise to me, but I'd bet they were waiting to see what GB was willing to spend, and to determine if Moss would rework his deal as he did.

I do agree that Moss is very likely to leave next year (if he signs a good deal and plays 16 games for another team in 2008, the pats will get a 4th rd pick or even a 3rd as compensation the following year!).

The pats have an option on Stallworth. If he performs, they'll pick it up and he's signed for another 5yrs.
