Browns cant take Quinn

The Browns currently have awful QB's. Quinn is a very good, NFL ready prospect. You're telling me that Quinn wouldn't be an instant upgrade over Charlie Frye? Adding Quinn would probably do just as much to get them in a win-now mode than drafting Peterson or Thomas would. The browns definitely CAN draft Quinn if Phil Savage wants to.

Checking the chats yesterday and some of the Brown boards, it seems the Cleveland fans have had enough of Frye and Anderson. Most of them seem to want an upgrade at QB.

One way for a coach to get off the hot seat for a year is to take a QB in the first round. The ownership doesn't expect anything from a first round QB the first season so the coach basically gets a pass for that year and then must produce in the second season. Using that logic Quinn could very much end up a Brown.

And rightfully so, Frye is awful, dare I say worse than Joey Harrington. Anderson appears to be nothing more than a backup to me. I think Cleveland would be foolish to pass on either Russell or Quinn considering their QB situation. Jamal Lewis isn't gonna run for 2,000 yards ever again, but he is more than adequate at RB.

Ok i have been watching clips and sports shows and reading mags and everyone says that the Browns are in a win now situation. So if they are in a win now situation they dont have enough talent on they're team to take a rookie QB and wait on him to be ready, yes Quinn is the most NFL ready BUT he still has to learn more.

I've been saying the same thing! Savage and Crennel are on the hot seat with Bill Cower wating in the wings. They need to show some progress for the fans, for their current players as well as future free agents, but ultimately for their jobs. Peterson is the better player and helps them immediately. Lewis has a 1 year deal and is a shell of his former self. It makes absolutely no sense for them to take Quinn and rebuild again. There are quality QBs in round 2 but there is nothing like Adrain Peterson.

Peterson has always been their guy. This Quinn stuff has merely been a smoke screen to get someone to trade up (like us).

Nope sorry but that is incorrect. I know you don't want Quinn so you'll say anything to validate Cleveland taking him, but no coaching staff gets to rebuild twice. It's taking 1 step forward, two back, and 1 forward again. You're right were you left off! Owners are not that patient because the fans will take money out of their pocket by low attendance and low merchandise sales. If the Browns take Quinn it's because ownership over ruled the GM and coach. It'll be because they want a face for the franchise and will serve notice to Savage and Crennel to start sending out resumes. however if the ownership wants a new face, wouldn't Troy Smith make more sense???

This is what i have been hearing as well. If ownership wants a high profile ticket seller like Quinn then the browns will select Quinn. If they are a little softer on the issue the coaches and gm may be able to go after an imediate impact player like Peterson, IMO.

The "hometown boy" thing would add a little pizazz to the franchise, but Cleveland is also one of those towns where you really don't need a sexy name to sell tickets.

:shakeno: No duh, everyone coming into the NFL has to learn more. Do you know of anyone who has known everything in their rookies season? I don't. A young CB won't jam receivers at the line very well in their 1st season. A young RB will have poor vision due to lack of experience. Every player in the NFL has gone through this stage.
