Browns Must be Kicking Themselves

In the 2012 draft, the Cleveland Browns had the #4 overall and #22 overall picks. They used the first one on running back Trent Richardson. As good a talent as Richardson is, the pick seemed strange in today's passing NFL. Cleveland essentially admitted its mistake a year later by dealing Richardson to Indianapolis. In exchange, the Browns will likely get a mid first round pick.

Then news out of Cleveland is that Brandon Weeden is not the long-term answer at quarterback.

The Brown could have, and perhaps should have, drafted Ryan Tannehill at #4, or they could have taken Russell Wilson at #22. Both are looking good in their second years. Tannehill is 3-1 vs. the 2012 draft class (1-1 against Luck, 1-0 against Wilson and 1-0 against Weeden) and appears to be taking his game to another level. Wilson is leading one of the best teams in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks.
 
And in the 2011 draft they traded away #6 pick to Atlanta. That pick was Julio jones.

That makes it even worse.

But they do have Greg little and pill Taylor to show for it.

Remember how desperate we were when John Beck was drafted? He was still 3 years younger than Weeden and yet still we held out hope that he was to be the answer. I feel for Cleveland (and Jax and Oak and the other perennial losers with little hope on the horizon) However, any team is a player or two away from falling deep into the abyss of helplessness. This is why we must support this team, this year. Help with home field advantage, limit overreacting to losses, so that our progress will continue on its trajectory. I feel that great days are ahead, and that we are only at chapter 1. Feels good, doesn't it?

The importance of home field advantage THIS SUNDAY, with OUR DEFENSE, CANNOT be overstated. Ross, Ireland, Philbin, Tannehill have done their job, given us a winning product. Now it's the fanbase's turn to do our part.

I'll choose to be optimistic regarding whether our fans come through. If we don't tho...unfortunately I won't be surprised.

True, but as Fin fans we can feel their pain It all starts with a vision, commitment, and a great coaching staff.
If I was part of the browns organization, I would have kept Richardson. He is part of what makes a great team, having a great back. He is not the reason they lost games. If anything the staff is trying to make him the scape goat. They are looking desperate now, shooting in all directions. Their draft strategy failed.
 
Miami has had their fair share of mistakes. This is the problem with new regimes tho they also wanna come in and cut cords on ppl. You have to find a way to utilize players that were apart of the old way. In 2007 miami did a great job of doing that. Roth was terrible de moved him to olb and he flourished. Joey porter was a strom side olb in a 43 we moved him back to 34 weak side backer. You either have to do this or try and get good value for a player. Browns didnt get great value for t rich. Personally I would never had traded him unless it was for more than that.

Might want to do some research. Making the highlighted statement makes you look stupid. I'm not saying
you ARE stupid, I'm just saying this is a stupid post, and your logic is flawed. I could tell you why this
is a dumb statement to make, but it's more fun to make you dig for it.

As for the rest of the post, there are lots of teams that missed out on Wilson and Tannehill.
No reason to isolate it to the Browns.
