The Browns are a lock to draft a QB.
Those would don't think so are dreaming.
Crennel and the staff is under tremendous pressure to win and Frye/Anderson both stink.
By drafting a QB and if there is improvement they will get another year to coach.
They will draft Russell or Quinn.
Detroit ,it seems is now focused in on Gaines Adams.
The key is Oakland- do they take Johnson or Russell.
If they take CJ then Quinn will fall to Miami.

I don't see how they can pass on peterson who would automatically make a difference for them.

Ive heard/read Raiders are signing Calvin Johnson. Lions in my opinion are gonna surprise everyone and go DEFENSE, which is the one aspect of their team thats hurting them from winning games. Gaines Adams seems like the likely choice here. Browns then grab either Peterson or Russell. Browns GM/Owner have stated they want Russell.

Oakland is trying to get Josh McCown in a trade from Detroit. I started a thread on that with link. Could be the talk about CJ going to the Raiders might happen. The article suggests that and that they will draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Hopefully they SIGN a QB as a temporary fix (either Carr or Green) like we have been doing for 8 years, that way they don't need to take a QB at 3 so Quinn can fall to us, or at least to 6 where we can trade up and nab him before the Vikings can even consider him. They DO need results NOW, so a rookie QB, in round 1 anyway, MAY not be the best idea.

All that being said, the Browns are still scaring the crap out of me when it comes to him. This guy is just too good to be true for them. Hometown Hero, coached by your head coaches best friend, great talent at QB, I just cannot see them passing on him. I HOPE they do, but if it happens, they will be pulling a New York Jets-esq move. Not that Perterson is a bad choice, in fact he is a great choice, I just think with everything else involved with Quinn (the hometown thing and all that publicity he could generate because of that) he would be a better choice for them. Let's hope they don't see it that way

Maybe they are thinking Bush in the third. If this is a rebuilding year where they groom a new QB why not take a chance on big ole busted leg.

Yea anything is a possiblity atm. I am ready for draft day:)

I think they should take AP too, but they did sign Jamaal Lewis (who I know has been struggling the past few seasons).

If they are under tremendous pressure, as you say, the answer is not a rookie QB. They will draft an immediate impact player like Peterson. A RB is more likely to step in and immediately make an impact. So if you're saying the reason they will take a QB is for an immediate impact, I don't agree. Now if it's for next year or the year after, that I would go along with. If they're worried about their future's they won't draft a player who won't help them this year.

oh yea thats right I forgot about them getting lewis well then browns taking a qb his a huge possiblity now that i remember they got lewis i forgot about that. I doubt they will take peterson then.

yes they are, and the best way to win NOW is to get AP and green. crennell has to win now or he is gone. getting a rookie QB would not get them to win NOW. maybe in the future but not NOW. they would have a good chance to win with AP and green. then going after a QB in the later rounds. that is why lewis was only signed for 1 year, to help AP out in his rookie year and he wouldnt have to carry the whole load. that is why they ARE taking AP in the draft and quinn COULD fall to us.

I suspect they are looking at the possibility of doing what we want to do. Get Green, draft Quinn and let Green start for 1-2 years and have him groom Quinn until ready. It's gives them both of what they are looking for. A vet who can come in and win for them now and then a rookie to possibly develop into the franchise QB. Only wrench in that whole plan is Green. He's only talked to us and tentatively come to an agreed contract if traded to us. He doesn't have to go to any other team unless they are willing to pay him his $7+million contract. Cleveland might try to woo him with a 1-2 year contract, but it won't be near the range of his current deal, so it's up to him where he really wants to go. If that's the case, then Clev is in big trouble because if they sign Quinn, Frye won't be able to mentor him, so they'll be forced to start him, which won't look very pretty in Clev. because his supporting cast leaves a little to be desired.

I agree 100%. Our fate at QB is tied very closely to Oakland's decision. Cleveland seems to really like Russell
