Question is if we didn't take RT and he was still there at Clevelands 2nd pick in first round would they have taken weeden still? I doubt it. What are they going to say? We really wanted RT but he was gone so we took Weeden?

That is a very good questiion. And I really dont know the answer. In my heart of hearts I really believe if they were both still there they would have still taken Weeden. There is just a lot to like about them both, but if you are sold on a leader being a type A personallity, then yeah I can see where you would have to like Weeden over RT. I personally think RT will work out fine as a fin but I also think Weeden will workout fine for the Browns and be better quicker. RT has a higher ceiling but who knows if he gets there. Weeden is closer to being at the top of his ceiling than RT, tons more experience and a better resume. Both are playing for teams with great LTs decent OLs, and below average WRs. It will be interesting to see how they compare after the first two years.

Idk, 6'5" 230 lbs, the guy sure does have the measurables to get you out of a jam. Just look at how tiny he makes Deion Sanders look below...

Seriously?? Being 6'5'' doesn't mean squat if it's on a frame of only 230. Tall lanky guys like that are always getting the crap beat out of them by someone with the right attitude. Peyton is just not a dominate person, he is not the kind of person that is going to come across as someone thats tough. If you would feel safe getting into a scrap with someone like Peyton as your wingman, then all I have to say is we frequent different bars.

weeden didnt fit in here. plain and simple. tannehill will have the longer and better career imo and thats not just bc he is a phin, ive been saying it forever. i wish i saw what you saw in weeden but just dont. and we will see once the bullets start flying.

From the few A&M games I watched in entirety this last season (Only 7, from start to finish) I would say there is much truth in what the Browns are saying.

That doesn't really add up to whether or not he will be a good NFL QB (God I hope so, but I have MUCH reservation) but the truth is there. He never showed much leadership while playing QB for A&M. Not on the field or off of it either. That is fact.

One big positive Tannehill does have is he is indeed very very intelligent. IF they can boost him up, I think the leadership thing might come along.......maybe.

Leadership ... I want it, but the LEAST of my worries. I want a guy who can play QB for cripes sake ... easier to teach/school leadership than punkin' chunkin'.

No idear what Cleveland knows about QBs ... just notice they've sucked as bad as us the last decade or so.

As far as all that fancy talk about Weeden I read in this thread ... I call a big ole stinky pile of BS on Cleveland's drivel!! Typical preseason drivel coming out of all the camps ... "no one can believe how genius their freakin' drafts are!!"

Think I'll just wait & see what ole Weeden is lookin' like about Week 6 ... odds say he'll be pretty stinky even if he is talented!! ... NFL rook Reality!!

The thing not enough people talk about is, yeah if anyone knows it's going to be Sherman, but if anyone has a reason to be biased, it's also Sherman. Coaches take a liking to their players, especially college coaches and college players...and Tannehill was a guy that went ten levels beyond, as far as being a 'team player' goes.

I'm not saying that's what is happening here, but it is a possibility, and I think it's one that Ireland was wary of, which is why he sought opinions from trusted friends around the league. It was important to him that he already liked Ryan Tannehill before Philbin/Sherman came on board. It was important to him to get opinions from not just Mike Sherman but also Zac Taylor, and surprisingly also Jim Turner who coached TAMU's offensive line and would typically not be a guy you'd interview about the quarterback. However, when Turner arrived at Texas A&M, he had just coached Joe Flacco, and so he had a unique perspective. The possibility of bias made Jeff Ireland extremely nervous and finnicky about this pick. He wanted to hear from as many people as possible that this was a good idea. Conveniently, if Tannehill fails, Jeff also can try and diffuse his blame onto all those other people too ("Well, everyone liked him, I wasn't the only one...")

Ireland in thei sentence sounds like he is smart scout trying to make the correct decision! (The possibility of bias made Jeff Ireland extremely nervous and finnicky about this pick. He wanted to hear from as many people as possible that this was a good idea. )

P.S. Just for future reference, those are usually the ones you better worry about. I've said this in another thread, but simply put: If Tannehil is going to be successful in the NFL, the Dolphins are probably THE best team he could have gone to.

The Same offensive system that he knows.
His former coach is his OC. Nobody in the NFL knows him better, and, how to play him, than this guy. Sherman knows his strengths and weaknesses, and also just so happens to know the NFL. He will adapt Tannehill as best and surely as he can.
Plus, he's in an Honest QB competition with capable vets. Not being rushed in, nor do I predict will he be held back for too long.
