This is a question, I have no knowledge other than passing comments on a Cleveland radio station this AM. This may be a better situation now for Harrington as there would be less competition for a starting role. That may leave us out in the cold (if Harrington switches to the Browns).

the only way this happens is if the Browns trade for Harrington and accept his current contract as is, 4.4 million for this season and the 4 mill bonus due in June. Harrington has already stated he will not negotiate a new contract with anyone other than Mia.

this could happen, but odds are extremely low.

Will the Browns stump up that kind of cash for a back up of Harringtons standing? Unfortunately money talks and football has a knack of kicking you in the teeth but im hoping its all crud and the Harrington thing is a done deal for us sooner than later.

:yeahthat:

The Browns starting role is in Charlie Frye's hands. That is why they traded Dilfer.

I don't know. The funny thing about this whole thing is that we're depending on Joey to not change his mind. But, who is to say he won't change his mind?

Incidentally has Dilfer actually been traded? If not and they cut him, I do expect Dilfer goes to the top of our list of QBs to grab to back up Daunte. I'd actually be more comfortable with Dilfer than Harrington.

According to the Cleveland AM 850 radio station this am he has been traded to the 49ers, done deal.

Frye really wasn't that great in his few shots last year. The fans are not sold on him (they are all around me), but I don't know what the organization's plans are. He has a suspect deep arm.

If Ken Dorsey got shipped to Cleveland I doubt that Harrington will change his mind and go there.

But if Cleveland steps up and just assumes Joey's contract instead of asking for it to be renegotiated, then Joey won't have a say in the matter. Either way it's a dangerous game we're playing, UNLESS we really are comfortable with Cleo Lemon as Plan B.

Harrington won't change his mind? Come-on this is pro sports until the contract is signed everything is fluid.

On a serious note, if you where a QB trying to be reborn/mentored/developed where would you go? Off the top of head I'd think Mike Holmgren/Norv Turner.

This is true but Harrington could change his mind.

If he changes his mind, get collins.

I'd rather have collins anyway.
