Buccaneers | Team could draft a quarterback high
Sun, 1 Apr 2007 10:56:04 -0700
Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden said the team could decide to draft a quarterback high in the 2007 NFL Draft. "There's a chance we draft a quarterback pretty high. We're going to go visit with [Louisiana State QB] JaMarcus Russell and [Notre Dame QB] Brady Quinn, and there's a good chance we draft one of those guys," Gruden said.

When have we ever heard a coach tell us there's a good chance they'll draft X player?

exactly, smokescreens smokescreens. blah blah. But this is exactly why I want the fins to trade up with them for Quinn. Dont take any chances, lets get the player we want.

Way to give a smokescreen Gruden. Might as well try to hide the contracts you gave Simms and Garcia.

Although Gruden is likely setting a smokescreen it doesn't mean he won't draft a quarterback because he traded for a 37 year old quarterback and gave a new 2 year deal to a below average quarterback.

How many QBs does Tampa want on the roster? They also have Gradkowski, who looked good for a while. They have Sims, Garcia, and someone else. No way they pass on Calvin. They need some RB help as well. Cadillac played horrible last year. He may need a backup. They take Calvin or Ginn in the first.

We're not getting Brady Quinn at this point. Tampa Bay is not my greatest worry anyway at the 4th selection, it's the the top 3 that all need QBs.

If Johnson is off the board it would be stupid for TB to pass up on a Franchise ty[e QB.

You just don't do tht when you don't have one. Regardless of other QB'S or contracts on the team. Garcia/Quinn/Simms/Gradkoski is no different then Green/Quinn/Lemon/Culpepper

Wht hurt us was Plummer. If he were to play for the Bucs they never would have taken a QB IMO

That is true, I didnt see Plummer retiring. I figured that he would stay a few more years.

that was the worst smokescreen ever! lmaooooooo! how ******ed or stupid is he? it was so obvous.

It might be a smoke screen but at this point with the way the contracts are written, the team wont be paying top dollar for either one they both got the same deal and it is tied to playing and preforming so if one is the back up and the other is the starter then it is a wash so if Joe Thomas or Calvin are not there when the Bucs pick dont think that drafting a qb is not an option for them

i think we should bring in olsen and meacham and make people think we are very high on them and then take a.d. peterson and then trade ricky for a 3 and 5 th round pick.:ninja:
