After years of relying on a stout defense, Ohio State may be changing things next season.

Monday's 34-20 win over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl marked the final college game for two-time All-American A.J. Hawk and his linebacking mates, Bobby Carpenter and Anthony Schlegel. Safety Nate Salley and cornerback Tyler Everett, both three-year starters, will also be gone, as will end Mike Kudla and tackle Marcus Green.

Nah, Penn State will be #2, though I don't think they're the 2nd best team in the nation.

Ehh....I can make a strong case for them. A defense that can hang with anyone led by the Butkus award winner, a gamer qb and lots of speedy freshman. If Penn State didn't lost so many playmakers due to injury they blow up FS tonight. I mean they couldn't get any running game going at all and the recievers were playing piss poor for the most part. I almost felt bad for Robinson.
As for OSU. That offense should be pretty nasty next year, and I'm not too worried about the defense, they probably won't be AS good but a freshman started for Carpenter and played well, Teddy Ginn's track star teamate Jamario O'Neil should step in for Sally and become a star, they have lots of talent in the wings. Tressel is also learning how to be a little more aggressive offensively with the speed that have on O, and my biggest knock on that team has been that Tressel has played too conservatively. Also they have the number 1 ranked RB coming in and I saw tape of him last year, look out for this kid. Ohio State should be hanging around the top for the next few years.

OSU will be ranked #2-#3 in the preseason next year. Even though they are losing their LB corps, their offense next year should be able to put up 40 points on anyone. They flat out should have destroyed ND. They left at least 16 points off the board with missed FGs (seem to be a recurring Bowl theme lately) and fumbles inside the 20 (another recurring Big10 bowl theme)

OSU could have easily put up 50 on ND.

ND will be right up there with OSU in the preseason rankings. expect a lot of similar faces in the preseason rankings

1 - texas (if young returns)
2 - OSU
3 - USC?
4 - ND
5 - FSU?

that seems about right

yeah i was thinking about putting FSU/UF at #5, but FSU gets the nod for being conference champs
