Alex Smith's averages over the last 3 years - 12 games/year, 2,621yds (218.4YPG), 60.4 CMPLTN%, 16TD-9 INT (1.77 ratio), 4 fumbles & 84.6rating

Matt Moore
Matt Moore 3 year average - 8.6games/yr, 1469yds (170.8YPG), 9.6TD - 7INT (1.28 ratio), 59.1%, 4.6 fumbles, & 80.4 rating

Of course there is an outlier here in the fact that Alex Smith has played more games than Matt Moore, but if you look at the averages of production over the last 3 years, Smith has produced a little more. The most important statistic of all is that Smith has been more EFFIECIENT with producing more while making less turnovers. Right now it seems that Smith and Moore are almost the same quarterback, the only difference would be picking up on some efficiency. Which may be the difference between 6-10 missing the playoffs, and 9-7 with the last wildcard spot considering how many close games the Dolphins were in.

I am a huge Matt Moore fan, I think he is a winner and in his career has a better win/loss record than Alex Smith. But Jeff Ireland is picking his poison here. Alex Smith may be a little upgrade, but is he worth the money? Will he guarantee wins? If signed, is he guaranteed a starting spot?

If I were Jeff Ireland, I would sign Smith, draft a quarterback, and let Moore, Smith, and rookie fight for a starting position. The odd man out between Moore and Smith gets traded. I'm sure Jeff Ireland can find good trade value in either quarterback!! Just saying ladies and gentlemen.
