The following is a numbers comparison of the two QBs and how the Dolphins offense has fared behind each QB.

Individual Stats

Ryan Tannehill (RT)

85-129 (65.9%), 972 yards, 7.54 ypa, 8 TD, 5 int, 11 sacks, 92.9 QB rating; 34.5 QBR

19 rush - 91 yards, 4.8 ypr, 4 fumbles; 3 lost fumbles

Brock Osweiler (BO)

54-80 (67.5%), 654 yards, 8.18 ypa, 6 TD, 2 int, 4 sacks, 107.0 QB rating; 65.3 QBR

4 rush – 17 yards, 4.3 ypr, 0 fumbles; 0 lost fumbles

Team Stats

Since RT and BO haven’t played the equal number of games I broke it down by the number of drives, plays, yards, points, percentages, etc…to get a comparison of how the Dolphins offense has performed under the leadership of each QB.

* I did not include the drives, plays or yardage for drives at the end of the half or end of the game in when the team is just trying to kill the clock.

* I did not include ST returns as not a reflection of QB led offense

* I did not adjust for scoring when opposing defense returns turnover for score

# of Drives: RT = 53; BO = 22

# of Plays: RT = 243; BO = 140

Average Plays Per Drive: RT = 4.58; BO = 6.36

# Points Per Drive: RT = 1.47; BO = 2.68

# Drives Resulting in Score by Offense: RT = 13 (10 TD, 3 FG); BO = 10 (7 TD, 3 FG, 1 FG miss)

% of Drives Resulting in Score by Offense: RT = 24.5%; BO = 45.5%

# of 3 and Outs (when team scores offensively in 3 or less plays did not include): RT = 17; BO = 3

Percentage of Drives Resulting in 3 and Out (or turnover in 3 or less plays): RT = 32.1%; BO = 13.6%

# Drives 50 or More Yards: RT = 9; BO = 10

Percentage of Drives Resulting in Turnovers by QB: RT = 15.1%; BO = 9.1%

* Kilgore turned over ball - bad snap under RT; Drake lost fumble at 1 under BO

3rd Down Conversions: RT = 15 of 52; BO = 16 of 31

Percentage 3rd Down Conversion: RT = 28.8%; BO = 51.6%

Make of it what you will. It is what it is. The numbers certainly reflect what my eyes have been telling me I’ve been watching on the field of play.

Outstanding post! BO should remain the starter and Tammehill needs to be traded.

Assuming your calculations are right, that is embarrassing for RT.
Brock has had benefit of two home games.

If you know these stats, I don’t think there is any way the FO and Coaching staff don’t. They basically say BO is a better QB this year. I’d like to see some other variables, like against the blitz or when the QB is outside the pocket; how many are dropped balls by the receivers; at face surface these stats say BO the better QB this year, and no one can disregard that he is gaining confidence. Would like to see a stronger arm and his side arm scares me, but hey.... the raw stats show he’s better.

What question is that? I generally do not pay attention to people who’s opinions are meaningless to me.

Do you come here because you're a Dolphins fan? Or because you're just anti-Tannehill? Because your post history says the latter.

Well, unlike some people, I may not like the numbers I'm seeing, but even my eyes have been telling me that the offense is moving better since Osweiler stepped in for Tannehill. I don't read too much into it regarding Osweiler vs Tannehill, but HEY at least the offense isn't irreparably broken, right? I was beginning to think that this level of suckage was permanent. Looks like we just need to find a better QB.

That's actually good news.
