Pau will be back probably in 5 games and Bynum will be in shortly after that. What I like most is that none of the top team will know what to expect from the lakers in the playoffs once all their starters come back. We play only San Antonio down the stretch.

Is that Andrew Bynum dunking the ball?

On Wednesday, at the Lakers last practice before they hit the road to New Orleans, there was a rather large young man on one side of the practice court dribbling a basketball. Then in a quick motion he turned and took down the rim with a two hand jam. Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it’s Andrew Bynum dunking the ball in practice. Talk about a Kodak moment for Laker coach Phil Jackson.

“I saw him dunking the ball a couple times, which surprised me,†Phil Jackson said. “He shot the ball a few times.â€

This is just a reminder to the rest of the NBA that Andrew will be back. I think the Lakers are babying him a little because he’s so young and valuable. Once he’s fully healed and rehabbed, they will have to let the monster loose, and that spells doom for the rest of the NBA.

Dunking isn't that big of a deal to me though. He is so long that that is barely a jump for him. What concerns me is how he will fare once he is exepriences IN GAME action. The bumping, banging and shifting will be a better test than simply standing by the rim and dunking it in.

Nevertheless it is a good sign of his progress I suppose. I still don't expect him back until mid to late April, which doesn't give him much time to get back in game shape both physically and mentally.

With Pau out, I really hope we can keep our heads above water. A little losing streak and we could be on the outside looking in.
