Cornerback Byron Maxwell, who arrived via trade after a failed season in Philly, said the defense outperformed the offense during offseason workouts — and that it’s going to remain that way.
“[The defense is] going to win every camp,” Maxwell said, via Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post. “We’re a defensive team. That’s just what it is.”
Maxwell also declared that he won most of his battles against the team’s receivers. Which if true would be a surprise, given the quality of the team’s receivers and the, frankly, lack of quality displayed last year by Maxwell.
On one hand, a sense of competition between the two sides of the ball could make each side of the ball better. On the other hand, public sniping will make it hard to create and maintain a true sense of team within a franchise where dysfunction has become the norm.

LMAO. Oh my God, Florio. This is NY Times level BS right here.

Yeah, the Miami Dolphins are the first team to ever have the offense and defense get competitive with each other in camp.

what assholes. he's proud of his squad. why mention sniping? i didn't get any sense of that from his comments.

Just go out and play well MAxwell, could care less about you bragging about how you did in shorts.
With that contract you have alot to prove

We shall see I suppose. We were all hoping for the same last year but this year I do think we have a more solid unit on paper and if all of their "if's" pan out

I'm with you guys. Lots of "if's" on that side of the ball as Travis says starting with Alonzo and Williams who both stunk it up last year.
Maxwell who is ok has never been the #1 guy to my knowledge and who's starting on the other side ?
Wake's health ? depth ?
Maybe it all works out but I would not be talking **** just yet.

True. After over a decade of hearing the players talk a mean game every offseason and rarely back it up, I really couldn't care less what they say at this point.

Here's my biggest if's for the defense:

1. Kiko Alonso being healthy would really make that group look a lot better
2. the #2 corner just needs to be not as awful as what we've seen the last couple years. Don't get regularly torched
3. Mario Williams is motivated and playing in a scheme that suits him
4. Byron Maxwell being healthy and in a better scheme for him
5. Cam Wake's health and use as a pass rusher only, will the other guys step up in his place when not on the field?
6. The development of young talent (Jordan Phillips, Bobby McCain) (can Ifo be healthy?)
7. Will IAQ play at least an average fs?
8. Can Dion Jordan contribute anything at all?

This team will go as far as coaching and QB play will take them This team has plenty of talent.

nothing else matters until they stop the run. It's been almost two full seasons this hasn't happened. Go to get off the field and prevent 10 min drive to start games

A team ranked #23 in rushing stats and #31 in OL play ain't going anywhere unless there's a tangible improvement.

Presently I'm more optimistic about the OL than I am about the running game.

Interesting. We went out and drafted heavy on the O side of the ball and now we have Maxwell saying they dominated the O in practice. If it makes the team better, I'm all for it. But the offense was supposed to be better than the D this year lol. Oh well, if the offense sucks again this year you Tanny lovers are going to get bombarded.

We could of had a beast running game with Miller. Mark my words, Miller is going to be a big star in Houston. Our run game sucked because we hardly ran the ball not because Miller sucked. Our D was terrible last season so we were down almost every game, calling for Tanny to pass the ball more.
