Cornerback
Byron Maxwell, who arrived via trade after a failed season in Philly, said the defense outperformed the offense during offseason workouts — and that it’s going to remain that way.
“[The defense is] going to win every camp,” Maxwell said, via Andrew Abramson of the
Palm Beach Post. “
We’re a defensive team. That’s just what it is.”
Maxwell also declared that he won most of his battles against the team’s receivers. Which if true would be a surprise, given the quality of the team’s receivers and the, frankly, lack of quality displayed last year by Maxwell.
On one hand, a sense of competition between the two sides of the ball could make each side of the ball better. On the other hand, public sniping will make it hard to create and maintain a true sense of team within a franchise where dysfunction has become the norm.
