I agree. seems to me he has a similar skill set to Lamar Miller. Injury depth? Makes sense but probably not worth the price tag. As we all know, we need a short yardage back. Interesting note: Just saw CJ Spiller live on ESPN, he slipped and said he was talking to a couple teams "down there". Where's down there? Nothing further south than Miami, just sayin'.

I could see interest in him strictly as a third down back and a return guy. Use him in a Darren Sproles type of role which is where he should have always been.

_______________ has been linked as a possible free agent target for Miami. (you fill in the blank).

No more players with injury history please

Ozzy rules!!

The NFL has become a multi back league. Gone are the days of Ricky Williams running the ball every play. Look at the Pats for goodness sake. Lamar Miller is a fine back and impressed me last year but I am all for bringing in depth.

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that free agent RB C.J. Spiller has at least seven teams interested in him heading into the legal tampering period that begins tomorrow.

According to Getlin, this group consists of: the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Cardinals, 49ers, Redskins and Lions.

On Tuesday, the Bills called and thanked Spiller for his service in Buffalo and told him that they had acquired LeSean McCoy in a trade with the Eagles.

“I hoped that I could return (to Buffalo),” Spiller said NFL Total Access. “Very few guys get to play their whole career at one team, but unfortunately that doesn’t happen in this business and I found out today it doesn’t happen in this business.”

The one team that stands out among the group is the Jets, seeing as there has been a lot of buzz that Spiller could sign with them now that they’ve hired former Bills HC Chan Gailey as their new offensive coordinator.

I like Spiller. See what the dollar value is and I am game.

That guy's return last year won the game in Buffalo for Bills. Electric player.

Plus, he could get Landry off of kick returns.

Any team can use him as a play maker, 3rd down back. However, he does not compliment Miller and is too injury prone for the money he may ask for. If he comes cheap, I would consider it.

Not for RB's who get injured. been there done that.

RB's need multiples because life span of people taking the rock more than anyone else (besides QB) and driving right into the line of fire makes lifespan lower.

This is why I take Mel Gordon over Gurley early.

Saw this and found it interesting. Don't know if it's bee posted yet or not (all I see is Suh posts lol).

I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of brining Spiller to Miami. He's been injured a lot & is pretty similar to what we already have at RB. Seems like it would be wasted money that we could put towards another player.

Thoughts?

Hes great and tore us up . But again, The second coming of Barry Sanders wont be able to run in Miami if we don't address that line.

I like him. Game breaker type.

I hear you but it seems like everyone has some sort of injury history these days. It's like trying to find a used car that was never in the shop. They're out there but man are they hard to find.

There was a time when I was in love with CJ Spiller as a player. Balance, acceleration, fearlessness and great top end speed. Pretty much everything you look for in a home run hitter. I've been watching the guy since he was in high school. Some may remember that he originally committed to UF before backing out and going to Clemson. At the time I was in Gainesville and followed the situation closely. His high school highlight film is as impressive as you'll see and when he changed his mind it was considered a great loss.

However, there's a funny thing that happens when you watch enough of Spiller. It's not immediately apparent but watch enough and it becomes like a 2x4 to the head: the guy simply doesn't have very good vision. By which I mean, everything is to the outside with him. Everything. Any time he has the ball he's looking to bounce it. And if you bottle up the outside option he'll often as not take it anyway and you can stuff him.

He's like a quarterback who has such unbelievable arm strength and accuracy that he never had to develop his ability to read the field. Only when he gets to the NFL it's not enough. Jeff George was a quarterback like that. You see them come through every year. Guys who should have been pitchers but they made a mistake along the way.

Spiller was so far ahead of everyone physically as an adolescent that bouncing a run became his blankie. He never outgrew it and at this point he almost certainly won't. So yeah, while he can scorch you and his highlight film is as entertaining as anyone's, I'd stay away.
