Every single Dolphins fan wishes Culpepper was the same player he was in 2004. But he's not. Will he ever be that good again? Maybe. Will it be this year? Probably not. The reason we can't let him compete is because he's due a 5 mil. salary this year. If he get's hurt, we're screwed. It's as simple as that. No one is being unfair to C-Pep. His past two years have been out in the open for everyone to see. I mean, the guy just got cleared to practice yesterday. The best thing that could happen for C-Pep would be to take another year rehabbing his knee. Making it stronger. That's the only way he'll ever get back to his pro bowl form. But, he cost too much money to give him that kind of time. If he plays, he'll be a sub-par Qb this year.

This team is moving forward. They have a game plan. And what's so intriguing about Cam and Mueller is they don't care what you or me, or the so-called experts think. They didn't pass on Quinn because they desperately wanted Ginn. They passed on Quinn because they didn't want him. This year's draft was about getting a Qb of the future. Look at it.. Terry Shea is one if not the best Qb coach in the league. Cam is an offensive guru who know's Qb's. Shea worked out Quinn. These guy's know what there doing. And they got the right guy. Trust me when i say, it's not going to take five years. This team could be a competitor by next year.

And remember...YOUR A DOLPHINS FAN, NOT A CULPEPPER FAN. Have faith. We're moving in the right direction.

I understand what you are saying and i agree with you but i just hope that c-pep going to another team dosen't come back to bite us in the butt.

So instead we'll pay Green four to five million a year (or more based on incentives). We hope he's the same player as prior to last year, but he's getting older and the odds are that he's not. If he gets hurt, we're screwed. It's as simple as that.

I don't think it's right that Cam is shipping him out as soon as he can. The man worked his *** off to get through rehab and gets f'd over.

Cam straight up lied to every Dolfan and Pepp. He said he wouldn't evaluate him until he was healthy. Looks like to me Cam is just as much as a 2 faced liar as Saban. He never even let the man throw 1 ball.

that says it well enough for me... I wanted Duante to recoup some value at the least..

Good point. If John Beck is the future though, then I like the Green move. Who is a better qb for Beck to learn behind, C-Pep or Green? Green and it ain't even close.

Why? Because Green has such a great track record of grooming young quarterbacks??

(On how he feels about grooming John Beck) – “It’s a little unusual. I’ve never really looked at it that way. It’s similar to what I went through last year with Brodie Croyle. The way I’ve always approached it, and Cam touched on it a little bit as well, is it’s not my job to pull him aside and teach him the offense. That is what Terry Shea is here for. That is what Cam is going to do. I think the best thing for him to do is to watch how I prepare, watch how I study tape, watch how I practice, how I interact with other players and then he has to develop his own way. I said the same thing to Brodie.

I wanted Pepp to have the same chance as a 37 year old man coming off of a major concussion. Let them have the same chance to be a starter for the Phins.

But yet once again we are lied too. One day we will have a respectable coach.

Because he has such a great track record of being a SMART QB. Something C-Pep hasn't exactly been known for up to this point in his career.

Yeah, he's such a SMART QB that has won how many big games? How many post-season games? I'll save you the research: zero.

This franchise's QB is John Beck. Cam Cameron's QB is John Beck. We have the basis of a team that can compete for a playoff spot. John Beck is not and will not be ready this year, conceivably not for next year either. We need to make the most of the seasoned, game winning vets that we had before the Green trade, ie. Taylor, Thomas, Porter, the defence in general. To make th most of this generation, we need a quarterback who can utilise the tools we have to offer, Chambers, Brown... maybe Ginn. We have two years from now to compete, during which time, we should be 'rebulding' the linebacker corps, the pass rush and the O-line. The move for Green was to do no more and no less than A) Help Beck, and B) help Miami to compete in 2007 and 2008. Beck will likely have a different and exciting in different ways defence and that will be the beginning of a new era. We're on the coat tails of an ending era right now, an unsuccesful one that has seen some horrible QB decisions and misfortunes. Cam Cam will put an end to that era with the development of Beck.

So how do we best compete, offensively in order to make the most of our defensive unit? With at the very least, solid QB and offensive play scoring a consistent amount of points. We had two options, Culpepper or Green. If we take the risk on C-Pep and the same happens as last year, this and next season are wasted, the end of this era is wasted and the end of ZT and JT's careers are wasted. Sure, Trent Green has potential to get blown out injured again this year but the risk is much, much lower than with C-Pep. It's be nice for Culpepper and Green to battle out the starting spot but their contracts and refusal to re-negotiate those contracts make it impossible.

Everyone that thinks sticking with C-Pep over Green in terms of risk is living too much in a perfect world. The risk is too high and the benefit from risk is too low. We've done the right thing in drafting John Beck and acquiring Trent Green. It is also the right thing to do in avoiding Culpepper's bonus. We're not investing in Green to be our franchise man or even QB, we're investing in his availability to do a good job for two years until the new era kicks in.

The Miami Dolphins will not be left with egg on their faces over this, just like they won't be with the passing on Quinn. If there was no legitimate alternative, I'd be worried... In John Beck we have a great chance to eclipse the service that Brady Quinn offers and to eclipse the service that Daunte Culpepper had left. And there is as little risk involved as possible.

Those two post-season losses under Trent both came from Indianapolis which we all know has a superb offense. During those times Kansas City's defense was sub-par AT BEST so you can't blame the losses ENTIRELY on one player. Those games weren't complete blowouts either so cut the guy some slack.

Bottom line is he's a Dolphin now. I'll be rooting for the guy.

Yeah, but the KC offense led by Green scored a whole 8 points in the playoff game last year.
