The Buccaneers hope the next step for the fourth-year tailback, returning from a career-threatening knee injury that's sidelined him more than 13 months, is reverting to running the ball like his old self.

"We're trying to simulate as much real football activity as we can, and he's responding tremendously," coach Jon Gruden said Wednesday after Williams participated in his first practice since being activated from the physically unable to perform list.

I am very happy to see he is making a return back to playing football. It was major shame that he suffered an injury that at the time some thought would be career ending.

Obviously Ronnie has proven to have been the better running back in the draft even before the injury Carnell suffered. I do like Williams as a change of pace back, and I hope he can make a full return to his old self. Who knows, maybe after Ricky retires in a few years, We could have a reunion here in Miami between Ronnie and Cadillac.

That was a horrible injury, one of the worst I've seen other than the Livingston injury with the Clippers.

Good to see Cadillac is on the way back.

Cadillac did win OROY over Ronnie...Healthy, I think Caddy is better at pounding the rock but Ronnie is mighty versatile....All that aside I'd rather face the dolphins and Ronnie twice a year than the Bucs If neither ever had an injury and were fresh....How they are...Give me Carnell....

[mod]Please refrain from personal attacks.[/mod]

Ronnie Brown:
3,021 yards rushing, 4.3 avg, 22 TD
1067 yds receiving, 8.7 avg, 2TD
1 TD passing

Carnell Williams:
2,184 yards rushing, 3.8 avg, 10 TD
294 yards receiving, 5.5 avg, zero TD

How exactly is Cadillac better about pounding the rock?

lol....Well **** of course Ronnie is gonna have more yards caddy has been out for 13 months.......If/when they are healthy Caddy is better at running the ball. Ronnie is way more Versatile meaning he can run catch pass many other things than run the ball up the gut.....Caddy don't do all that ****....He takes the hand off up the gut...That's just the way the Bucs play.....Anyway like I said Caddy beat Ronnie for Rookie of the Year and started over him in college.....

And conveniently ignore the fact that RB averages half a yard more per carry. OK.

Oh my god he runs for HALF OF A YARD more on average???? Damn guess that means Jerious Norwood is the best back in the league at running the ball...Because his average is 5.6 yards per carry on 65 attempts....hmmmm....NOOO...

Norwood has a different job than Brown or Caddy. That comparison is ridiculous. All I'm saying is Brown averages more per carry with (until this year) a crappy team.

Hey it's not like Ronnie hasn't missed anytime since he joined the league. He's missed quite a few games himself. When he's played though, he's been more effective than Carnell.

I think there's a pre-conceived notion that Carnell is better because he started in college. I really don't care what they did in college, I'm concerned with their NFL status.

As for the ROY, it's not like it matters that much since it was 3 years ago but their years really were not that different.
Cadillac -- 290 attempts 1178 yards 4.1 avg 6 TD
Ronnie -- 207 attempts 907 yards 4.4 avg 4 TD

You are going to have a hard time convincing me or anyone else here that if Ronnie had those 83 extra rushing attempts he wouldn't make up the 271 yards and 2 TDs that separate their numbers. In fact to do that, he would only have to average 3.26 yards per carry, which is well below his average that year. If he kept his average of 4.4 yds/carry then he would turn those 83 extra touches into 365 yards which would be 1272 for the year, almost 100 yards more than Cadillac for the year on the exact same number of carries.
