I am listening to WQAM and it sounds like Sturgis injured his groin again. Maybe it's time to bring in another kicker. It makes me wonder why we gave up on Dan Carpenter. Carpenter nailed a 51 yarder for the Bills in the HOF game and he rarely missed last year.

I agree, it's not like he was stellar last year, which he was injured most of anyway... Bring in some competition.

wheres Dan Carpenter when you need him. I thought Sturgis was good but why draft a kicker. there has to be some decent kickers on the street

Rob Bironas is available, just sign the man and be done with it

Damn you tootsies!!!

Just cause he's a Fins player doesn't mean you can put it on him like the lineman...smdh...

What kickers are out there?

Yeah, I can get on board with that. He was pretty good for Tennessee.

Jeff Ireland was a former kicker himself and he evaluated all kickers with great scrutiny from a perceived "insider" perspective. While Carpenter was good and had been pretty reliable for years, he failed to nail wins in 2 key games the 2012 season and from that moment on Ireland wanted a better kicker. In Caleb Sturgis he saw a young guy with ice in his veins. Make no mistake, Sturgis is good. However, one of the best abilities in the NFL is availability. Caleb still has a power boot and appears to have filled out a bit in the offseason (well his butt looks bigger), but the coach's patience will wane rapidly if the groin strain is serious. The ice is still in his veins but it doesn't count if he's not healthy.
Ireland's lust to draft a better kicker doesn't look all that smart now.

I'm curious as to how you know his butt is bigger? A little insider access? Lol jk man

Oh no not a chat about Dan Carpenter again. Remember the Jets game?

I certainly do! He had his shot and he blew it. Then it went into OT and he blew it again. Maybe he just likes to suck! I was so pissed that game too because it was the one time I went to the bar with work people and two of them were JETS fans, and I had to sit there and stomach that **** and pretend like I didn't want to punch somebody in the face. Lol. I would've been picturing Dan Carpenter as the person I was punching for sure.

He might have gotten insider access but he didn't dig very deep!
