I'm one of the few, if not only Sturgis supporters, but if the Lions elect to go with the veteran Matt Prater I would want the team to move mountains to get Brindza. He has long term kicker written all over him. Get this rookie and you won't need to address the position for a decade. I really see him beating out Prater, but some teams would rather go with the know commodity than invest in a rookie kicker.

Meh, not like a kicker has to learn a system. I'd be plenty fine with any new kicker coming in for a week or two in competition if cut after this weekend.

Kyle Brindza? Seriously? The same guy who has a career 70.4% FG rate in three seasons at Notre Dame? Same dude who actually got worse as his college career progressed, culminating in hitting 14 of 24 FGs in his senior year last fall and a dreadful 58%?

Never. This guy is a dumpster fire.

Not when it comes to this kid. Never to late to add a special player.

Yeah I know we can swap a kicker with ease but I am trying to look at it through Joe's mind. I just can't see him changing it up at this point.

I think he's figured a few things out and has improved. I could be wrong, but I think he's going to be a very good NFL kicker. As an added bonus I see he's been punting some during preseason too. I don't think he's an NFL Punter, but as a place kicker I see a very strong leg. Maybe I'm overreacting from a few preseason games and what I've heard from Lions camp, but the kid has a leg.

Dont worry, they are gonna cut Prater. Brindza has been flawless this preseason on both kickoffs and field goals while Prater missed an extra point tonight. If they go with Prater i literally have no idea why teams even bother with competition.l

Josh Lambo is going to become one of the greatest kickers in NFL history. Who he plays for is yet to be determined. Chargers have him in camp but they also have Nick Novak under contract.

Dolphins should do whatever it takes to acquire this kid and then sign him to 15 year contract.

I could never figure out why one could not figure out how to be successful doing both? I mean, what else do punters and kickers do during practice. Learn to do the other one well.

Not so much a question of learning to do both as it is being able to to do both at an elite level. There are hundreds of kickers and punters out there, but to be considered one of the top 32 isn't easy. Being elite in both areas is like hitting on two lottery tickets.

This is one of those baffling situations that I'm beginning to see that our new outstanding (IMO) FO goes brain dead.....

Hell I'm just an old geezer lifer fan and its clear as day that Sturgis hasn't cut it and needs to be replace with more reliable talent thats been or will be available (proven over and over)....

It's hard to believe that it gets overlooked...and hopefully it doesn't turn into a large and embarrassing problem, that gets made aware of when its to late to do anything (like our previous FO's constantly did). Think they may have done the same with the OL but tonight should make that somewhat clearer as they blew opportunities to reinforce an questionable OL with the looming possibility of another critical problem if the injury bug hits any more which does seem like the norm for a season....

Remember during the Sturgis era Miami has a better field goal percentage then their opponents from 30 yards or less, 30-40 yards and even 40-50 yards. The only distance Miami's opponents have out kicked Sturgis is from 50 yards out or more and if he would have made one extra kick from that distance he would have had a higher percentage from long distance too. Not saying he doesn't need to get better, it would help if Miami didn't kick so many field goals from 45 yards out or more. If the offense is clicking, like I hope it does, I see fewer drives stalling and resulting in long field goal attempts.

Check out his kicks tonight in general and look for a straighter kick and consistency. He and others recently said he has been working on his slices. I noticed his kicks in the last game were pretty straight.

Jordan Gay with Buffalo, hasn't done anything yet today, but I also like what I've seen from him in preseason. His kicking potion seems effortless, almost like a smooth golf swing.
