Judging by the tweets he and Cutler shared over the past months, I have to believe that he didn't really even want to be here. And with his uncontrollable temper, off the field issues, and case of the dropsies in the endzones, it's pure homerism to think that we could have gotten much more than what we got. Personally, it hurts to lose our #1 receiver, as it adds another hole. But looking at the big picture, it's hard to believe that this move was for no reason.

okay but get back better value for him, we should of gotten at least two 2nd round picks, hell, the bears were desperate for a WR hold them hostage for a #1!, and what is the backup plan? vincent jackson was the only viable option and he is gone, reggie wayne? he is 33, brandon lloyd? he is another headache, I just dont get it, we better draft blackmon or Floyd from ND

Well, that's what I'm saying. We draft a WR to replace him, that's not a headcase. He would be much cheaper as a rookie. We now have more money, and picks to fill additional holes

We just lost our best receiver for a couple of third round picks.

Overreacting? No sais I.

maybe we find a way to move up for blackmon or he falls to us, he fits the mold of a west coast receiver, 6'1 215

agree 100%, if your not happy with Marshall and he doesnt fit the new system that philbin is bringing in then that's fine, but get value for him he is a top 5-7 WR, he is worth a lot more than two 3rd round picks!

Agreed! This trade makes NO SENSE on so many levels. We just created a gigantic void in our offense, only got 2 crappy 3rd round picks in return with no guarantee we will be able to come close to filling his production. I could go on and on....

Who is Flynn, Moore, Manning, etc, going to throw to. Sure we prolly get Wayne if we get Manning, but he's cloer to the end of his career than not.

On its face value, it's a very one-sided trade that if anything takes away an incentive to attract a good QB or to give Moore more tools to succeed; no way we couldn't and shouldn't have done better than 2 friggin 3s!

However considering it's so gawdawful on the surface, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop which reveals this as a pawn in a master plan where we've actually upgraded: Maybe signing Vincent Jackson, bundling one of those 3s with our pick and Merling or whatever to move up to grab Blackmon, signing Peyton, Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne as a package deal..

However, if all we've ended up doing is offloading one of the premier receivers in the league for fools gold, then on its own merit this deal would rank right up there with the Dutch stealing the island of Manhattan for the equivalent of $24 of shiny baubles and trinkets. It took me a long time to get over passing up on Mallett 3X; if there's no "Part B" then this one would likely send me over to the darkside.

I'm not happy with what we got for him, but we were 11-5 with Ginn & Penny & I don't believe when he was in Denver him & Cutlet made the playoffs. Not that I don't think a #1 WR is important I don't think it's the end of the world he defintley added drama to the team so that part won't be missed as well. Let's give Philbin & his staff a chance, I remeber last year being frustrated after the 1st day & woke up the next day to see we traded for Bush & that worked out.

SO...what if thats the best deal people were offering? If this was in the works at the combine...maybe not too many people were willing to give up more for him

im confused, Brandon Marshall and Reggie Bush were my fav players before they even joined the team, and for what we got in return for Marshall is mind boggling, hopefully theres something going on because if not we are destined to fail.

Whatever makes people feel better. I'd like to see some potential scenarios where we made out good in this deal. If it's bringing in a different WR, that doesn't make this a good deal because it's simply filling a void that itself created (plus we could have had two star WRs instead, which I'd happily give up 3rd rounders for). It certainly isn't cap, because we're still on the hook for about $6 million of it. Manning wasn't willing to work with him? That's about the only somewhat acceptable reason in my book.

he turns 28 in 10 days and he has dropped the ball a lot. he's been a distraction for us. these things drove down the price of the original two 2nd rounders. i would have perfered to get just one second rounder but maybe it wasn't an option because of the contract, or maybe there was some urgency because of peyton, we'll find out soon enough. i also think that philbin values these draft picks more than a sparano did. he loves grooming players, he made that clear. i think round 3 and up it is very possible to get quality players, now we can get 4 shots at that 2 years in a row.

...then you don't do the deal.
