After letting it sink in for a day or two, I want to give my honest opinion of the draft and the stare of the Dolphins.

1. This draft was hard to swallow at first due to the fireworks in jts camp, trades, etc. After reading the bio's on our draft picks I truly believe that the trifecta stayed the course. Sure there were players they would have selected differently if the higher graded players were available. We have to trust our leaders ( this was not a rebuilding draft, this was a addition to a good team type of draft.

2. We needed the corner backs and we finally have talents and bodies to deal with injury( good job not over paying for Mafadden in the offseason) insead we got two hungry young not as expensive coners that may turn into surtain and madison):hump:

3. WR's the recievers we picked up are quality and have several skill sets and the good thing about this is we drafted them they are not cast off's from another team that we are trying to piece together. There will be an open competition and the top six will win. The means recievers on special teams that will help tighten up that area, will learning how to be a reciever in the league. So I like the fact the we choose 2 big, physical reciever.:hi5:

3. Mr. Pat White, I really watchd his tapes and I truly believe the he will help us take the wildcat and our basic offense, and red zone offense better. This will make the other team practice a little harder because of his speed, arm, and elusiveness. He would not have been there in round three. This picks helps the offense!:lol2:

So trust experience, wisdom and passion. More times than not they are going to prevail. We are a good team and our front office just made us better.

I agree with this post, don't expect others too. From now on I'm just not gonna come here on draft day.

Well it cannot be stated enough that this was an extremely thin draft talent-wise causing alot of teams, to try and trade out of the first altogether... Seemed that Cleveland needed someone to put a gun to their head to make them pick!

I think generally this caused alot of players to be highly over rated and made it feel as though the middle of most draft boards were reaches... I know in our case the middle picks like most everyone here caused me some anxiety... I truly think that this draft was a certified NEED draft for us and I think our FO ranked it obviously CB most needed then to receiver... Obviously they were not in love with any of the pass rushing LB's (especially Sintim/Barwin) and face it BP knows LB's...

So not trusting any one player to be a studd they just accumulated as many bullets as they could and took a scatter shot approach hoping for the diamond... Considering how thin the draft was I think this was the best approach....

Ìf I gave Wannstedt, Cameron and Saban the benefit of the doubt, I'll damn sure give these guys the benefit of the doubt. Until they screw up (and you can't know right now, obviously), they got my confidence. Though it's not like it matters much.

Nevertheless, a day after, I still hate this draft.

Can I still be a TRUE Fins fan if I continue to believe we reached on White?

Too many holes to take a luxury pick so early.

No because picking White is not a "luxury" pick as you like to put it.

Using your way of thinking any pick other than what you wanted would be a luxury pick.

White is a weapon and once again he is a good athlete which will help us out.

Nice post. I, like most of the "experts" on this site watch college football for the knowledge of these draft choices. It cracks me up to see Kiper, McShay comments about our draft choices. We got a plethora of picks in the areas that we need. The coaching staff had 30 players in to watch and spent several months evaluating the talent available. I trust their judgement Take that in with the fact that they have some targets (Taylor among others) to add in the off-season and it plays into how our footbal team is going to come together. We've got three swings at landing a receiver, three swings at landing a cover corner and a lot of hard hitting college players to fill special teams. Its great to add to the talent level of this team rather than plug holes like Detroit.

PS. - Anyone notice that the teams that know what their doing were trading down and stockpiling picks this weekend? (see Dallas, New England,....)

No, using my way of thinking, White is a player w/o a position thus far in the NFL. He doesnt want to be a slash-type or a wr, he flat out said he's a qb, and the FO drafted Henne last year in the same round to be that. We run the wildcat maybe 8-10 times a game, thats how many times White will be on the field. Luxury pick.

I didnt have any player in mind, I look at it as drafting positions. we NEEDED linebacker and that position was available. We needed NT, we needed wr(which we drafted later. We didn't need Kordell Stewart.

All the more reason to make sure you fill a need. White, Hartline and Turner are three good shots at making sure we hit on a wr.

Clemons, Davis and Smith are three good shots at making sure we hit on a cb.

well regardless of how we feel about a player we wont know much about them until they get on the field.

I had a meltdown yesterday but it was because our rivials seemed to have done better and seeing the patriots get so many players makes me sick and it gives me a sick feeling.

I will give our guys a chance but i still have some misgivings because the lack of media coverage or response concerning our draft but that doesnt mean we had a bad draft.

I think a true fan can and does disagree. However in the big picture many do merely because after weeks, if not months of reading mock drafts, player reviews, and so-called expert TV talking heads' opinions, these names which meant nothing to most of us who aren't Boomer or CK beforehand, have now taken on brand identities of their own. When we don't hear them being called as expected, our instinct is disappointment since we've bought into the various media hype or may have been impressed after watching a few of their games as fans. It's a natural reaction.

This coupled with the fact that we approach the draft with preconceptions of what our needs are. When players we've heard less about than those who get hyped and/or who don't fit into our own, or the media's laundry list of needs get alternatively selected, it can be upsetting, even if in the back of our minds we realize that our FO drafts with a plan and purpose in mind.. and that teams do step in front of us from time to time to divert our best laid plans.

I think putting some time between the draft and an objective evaluation is both healthy and helpful from the perspective of filling in the blanks. I for one was upset with the White pick, but 2 days later, I've warmed to it for a number of reasons that benefit the team. Of course our FO screws up picks and FA signings, but basically their batting average is pretty damm good. So, not because we should agree with them blindly, but because history most always tends to repeat itself, our inclination should be to trust their judgment more so than the likes of a Mel Kiper of Draft Daddy. But because many don't certainly doesn't disqualify them as avid and true fans!

So if he says he's a qb not a wr then then parcells and sparano will honor his wishes?????:foundout:

Using your logic, 10 wildcat plays per game times 16 games = 160 plays per season and 30 plays in the post season. 190 plays a years seems a lot more like an integral part of your offense, not a luxury.

They dont have to honor anything, but then when his contract is up, he leaves because he wants to be somewhere where he can start. This is all operating under the assumption that Henne is the real deal that the FO continues to project on us.

10 times would be on the high side, and thats out of what, 50-60 total offensive plays per game? Last year, the Dolphins ran 965 plays from scrimmage, that 190 plays would be less than 20% of total offensive snaps. Hardly integral. I dont believe a guy thats in on that percentage of snaps, and less than 10% total game offensive, defensive, and special teams snaps should be selected in the 2nd round.

Luxury pick.

Since you don't want to believe what anyone on this board is saying you may want to listen to Ireland himself. Pat White is a QB. He will compete as a QB.
he has a positon it is QB.
Miami drafted him as a QB
He will push Henne for the starting positon.
listn to the NFLN team they love the kid and the pick
not sure what else to tell you.
