if we end up picking jenkins next year. i know silly to talk about it now. but if we do. how does he stack up against guys like whitner or youbouty. without being bias, if possible. can this guy be our #1 corner? possibly lockdown? so, again i ask. please dont just say he so awesome, just cause hes a buckeye.

I'm not an Ohio State fan so haven't seen a ton of him, but I think I can give a decent assessment. As of right now most people feel he is the number one corner prospect for next years draft, but obviously a lot can change between now and the draft. Had he come out this past draft there was a good chance he would have been the first corner taken and possibly top ten overall. He is 6'1 with 4.3 speed, so you know that he has all the measureables to be a shutdown corner in the NFL. He has seven interceptions the past two seasons, which is impressive considering QB's don't test him a whole lot, and is a very solid tackler.

I'd say he's a better prospect than Whitner, and certainly much better than Youbouty. Best case scenario is he could become another Antoine Winfield or Shawn Springs, two fellow Buckeyes. Certainly number one corner material.

well based on film i've seen of him,i certainly wouldn't mind us having him.

lol call on all buckeye fans and then say don't say he is awesome because we are fans. I am a fan and without being a homer we have a good chance of having the best LB, CB and RB in the draft next year. That is good stuff. Hope the rest of our team preforms to that standard.

yeah you are right. you do have the potential to have the best corner, runner and backer. those, as of now are documented facts. but im saying dont just throw out there hes the best, if you dont believe it. but if he is, then he should be on the phins list. like him the best of those 3. hits hard. great solo tackler. pick off machine also. well bud. heres hoping you folks dont have to face a sec team in the bcs.

I would go so far as to say that he's the best CB prospect to come out of Ohio State....

He's like a Clements/Winfield hybrid... Clements was a shutdown corner, Winfield was a solid corner, a sure tackler and great against the run...

Jenkins is excellant at both.

He'll be a great pro.

as a Michigan fan, I'm gonna give you my opinion. He would've been the first CB taken this year had he come out. Off the top of my head, there are very few weaknesses I can think of when it comes to his game. If there is one thing you could criticize it would be that he switches to FS on obvious passing downs from time to time (they started doing that a lot more towards the end of the season). Jenkins is probably the best DB prospect the Buckeyes have produced since Chris Gamble (who is a very productive CB with Carolina, and only went so low in the first because he played a lot of WR in college)

If he falls it will be because of people over analyzing him (which happens to a lot of top prospects that come back for their senior years). Though if any Buckeye is gonna face that it will be Little Animal.

His move to FS was based more on the other guys than him...

They were comfortable enough with our other CB's in coverage, so they let JEnkins rove and try to make plays from what they call the Star position....

I've heard that part of his decision to come back this year was a conversation with Tressel about staying at CB and manning up almost exclusively... he'll make or break his draft status...although he's already a lock for the first round.

well the reason I mentioned it as a possible weakness is because it might get scouts questioning his coverage skills. And, as much as I like Jenkins the player, he's rarely been challenged vertically.

Michigan this year, Ohio State next year. Sounds good to me, don't know if there will be any bad blood between them on the same team.

there's no bad blood between players, it's just when the two teams play each other there is any bad blood.
