Cameron has held the clipboard for college teams, but he has yet to serve as head coach of an NFL game. But Although he's a rookie, he probably won't coach like one.

Pros: Cameron is one of the best offensive coaches in the business, blessed with an ability to call inventive plays and turn good players into great ones. He's credited with serving as a huge factor in the development of Drew Brees, Antonio Gates, LaDainian Tomlinson, Phillip Rivers, and Trent Green, who joins him this year in Miami. Under his tactics, teams score and score a lot.

Cons: The team he inherits isn't exactly coming off a Super Bowl high. Still, if he takes the controversy out of the quarterback position and gets his offense to gel, the Dolphins might find themselves behaving like fish out of water as a Miami team with a good record.

What are your thoughts on this analysis? On par or way of course? Or, do you just not care as long as we win?

It's a fair view of the situation. Cam doesn't come to Miami needing to coach both sides of the ball or rebuild an entire team. Look at it this way, we beat three playoff teams last year with Harrington and MM on offense. I think Cameron and Green are eaisly upgrades. 5 or 6 more points a game and we are a wildcard team.

Since Cameron hasn't yet coached a preseason game as a HC, there's absolutely no way to evaluate how good a head coach he'll be. One area of concern is that Cameron is going to essentially doing two jobs: HC and OC. Nobody knows yet how that will play out.

At least they seem to have a plan, thats more than I can say about the previous two head coaches. But thats JMO.

Overall, IMHO, CAM was a good OC. Yet, I saw him do things that may be problematic if he does not change.

1) He had a tendency to go away from his bread and butter. I saw several times, particularly against Denver, where he did not run LT enough. Also, check the stats on the SD vs Pats playoff game this year and you'll see he only ran LT like 8 times in the 2nd half. LT was killing us in the 1st half and CAM lst us off the hook.

2) I think Mike Martz was a better OC than CAM. Mike knew how to use Marshall Faulk as a receiver better than CAM new how to use LT as a receiver. With 1:06 left in the game he did not get the ball to LT one time. He would send him out in motion and get him 1 on 1 coverage yet no passes to him. LT was MVP and 31 TDs and you don't get him the ball with the game on the line?

As long has we start winning I don't care.

But he doesn't have to do much on D, as we have a former head coach handling that. Cam is a the "head coach" but it's almost a de facto dual coach team.

Do you know how much influence Marty had in the SD playcalling? It just seems any Marty coached team has a pattern for failure in the post season.

Good points. I wonder if he thinks to himself that he made a mistake and tried to learn from it.

Hearing this scares me a bit on top of Cam attempting to handle both the HC and OC duties at the same time. I wish his college record would have been a little more solid. I will give him credit for being confident becasue he has been making moves against the grain in many cases!

If we can average more then 12 points a game we should have a fairly good record. Just let Capers do his thing with the D and Cam concentrate on getting this offense to score.

He isnt even touching the D. He said he was eaving that up to Dom when he came here.

Cam job was only to get LT in one on one its the QB job to get him the ball.
With runnung the ball honestly that falls back on Marty He always thinks he knows best.

This is a poor assessment. Cam did his part in calling the plays so that is no fault to him. Now, on this play was LT the only one open? Was there another reciever downfield that was open? Cam calls the plays, however, the end decision ultimately goes to the QB and he thows the ball to who he thinks can make the better play. This end result, QB decision, has nothing to do with the OC. The correct play was called, hwoever the QB makes the final decision...so to fault Cam for this would be inaccurate because you have no idea whatsoever what the QB was thinking at that particular moment
