I was just thinking about things now that we have hired Cam as our coach. He will be doing the offensive playcalls.

Since Ricky is coming back as well it got me thinking about him too. I know that Ricky may not be in the same shape he was once, but towards the end of last season ('05-'06 or Nick's first year) he was definetely our better running back.

Which of our two running backs fit Cam's style of offense more?

I mean LT is almost a spitting image of Ricky Williams(in his prime). They are built the same way and have very similar style of running.

Has anyone thought of that? Also, if he can flourish and we could have a better combo of RB's then SD had with LT and MT that would be amazing.

I think Ronnie's receiving ability, which has been grossly underused in his 1st 2 seasons here, makes him the better fit. His skill set is similar to LT's. Ricky is more of a pure runner.

I agree that Ronnie's receiving ability is better, but Ricky's style of running is very much like LT's.

I dont think this is as much of an issue as it looks...Even though he is older now, he has only played 12 NFL games in 3 years...He has to still be pretty fresh

Okay so which one do you think suits Cam's style of offense more?

I think Ricky suits his style more. He can cut and juke alot better than Brown can which is what LT does best. But in terms of recieving, which is something LT is also great at, I think Brown is a better reciever than Ricky is...But overall I think Ricjy fits Cameron better than Brown does

I'm not saying that Ricky is going to come in here and take Ronnie's spot. I'm just wondering peoples opinions on which one of the two running backs fits Cam's offense more. Thats all. I love Ronnie Brown and hope that he ends up being the pro-bowler this coming year that I know he can be.

I dont think there is any chance of that happening

Ronnie Brown is the better fit because of his receiving ability that they didn't take advantage of when Saban was here.

Just imagine the 2 of them in the backfield..... As a defensive coach what will you be expecting..... Ricky on the left, ronnie on the right, ricky on the outside, ronnie on the flat, chambers deep, wes welker on the inside or derek hagan Post route...... well coached, this will be fun to watch

Ricky is much more an LT type back - he can run inside and outside; he can catch the ball very effectively - equally as good as Ronnie, imo.

All else being equal, Ricky would beat out Ronnie. Don't get me wrong, I love Ronnie Brown (though I think he needs to lose 10 lbs, at least, to increase his athleticism - when you watch tapes of him in college, he's a much better all-around runner than he is now. His legs are almost too big and his athleticism is down). But, Ricky, when he is not on drugs, is in the top 3-5 RB's in the league - even at 220.

When you factor in the unreliability - Cameron can't put all his marbles on Ricky. But, I would alternate them and give Ricky the start, yet play Ronnie a great deal.

Ricky is more like LT, BUT Cam has a history of adapting his offense/style to fit the players he has, so expect to see Ronnie be featured more than Ricky because of his bruising style and youth. Cam will adapt to both IMO but expect Ronnie to get more touches.

That's what I keep thinking about. Just imagine if Daunte's knee finally heals up. We could have a very explosive offense.

Ronnie Brown is an amazing running back and deserves to be a 1st round draft pick. Leave Ricky Williams in his the crappy Canadian league!
