Should the Chargers lose this weekend to New England, there is a very strong possibility that [SIZE=-1]Marty Schottenheimer will be on his way out in San Diego. If that is the case, I would assume that Cam Cameron would be the easiest replacement. The problem is we can do nothing to pry Cam away from San Diego until the season ends. So, I guess I find myself hoping that the Chargers win it all. Am I reaching here?

how long before the "we need Marty" thread shows up?

Winning out would suit me... I like Marty..

That is the way I see it, I think the Chargers know Cam is going to get a HC job for another team and they don't want to lose him. So they are willing to let Marty go given the arguments between him and AJ and then promote Cam to HC so he stays.

I mean San Diego is as loaded a team as I've ever seen. They have all the horses in their stable. I don't care how amazing Belichick and Brady are I can't see them overcoming all that talent unless Rivers drops a steaming floater right there in the middle of the field.

They almost lost to the Seahawks, while still fighting for homefield throughout.

I live in San Diego and I will not be able to stand it if they win one. It would be too unbearable especially with the circus surrounding the phins. Before two years ago I had about 6 friends outta over 100 who were charger fans. That number is now up to 80 and I none of them admit they were bandwagoners.

It sure does fit their M.O. Just like they did with Brees and Rivers. They knew Rivers was the future and parted ways with Brees. Hopefully Cam wants to come to Miami and or Wayne makes him an offer he can't refuse.

The word in the past the past was that Wade Phillips, The Chargers Defensive coordinator would assume the Head coach position if Marty left. that was one of the reasons they brought Wade in to begin with.

That was what I really wasn't sure about. Who do they value more? The OC or the DC, Cam or Wade? That's a bit assuring. Thanks for the info.

Well that is good in that Cameron might still be available to us but bad that they would choose Wade over him, seems like every one of these HC candidates has drawbacks

If that is the case I find myself doing the unthinkable and rooting for the Pats this weekend. I would much rather have Marty than Cam, let AJ Smith and the team that John Butler built go screw themselves.
