Here are 2 scenarios regarding our next head coach:

1. Cam Cameron has been mentioned as someone we are interested in. He's had success as a OC, but not as the HC in Indiana. He seems like an inovative offensive guy who could probably get the best out of the guys we have. Also it is not imposible for somebody as Capers to stay. He's still under contract, and has been an excellent DC. I believe this combination could work here.

2. Cowher is going to "retire" today. Reports from Steel land indicate that the number one reason for this is that he wants to get pay more. Im sure that if he's the person Wayne wants, he wont have a problem paying this guy what he deserves. He's a proven, superbowl winning HC. That alone would be a PR blessing, specially after the Nicktraitor fiasco, and the fact that they want to raise ticket prices. The problem is how much compensation do they want? Is it a swap of 1st rd picks plus a future #3, or do they want multiple picks? If he is brought here, also the chances of Capers staying are greater.

Which scenario do you guys like best?

All the reports that I have read say Cowher is retiring to be with his family, nothing to do with his paycheck. Aside from which if it was about the money, the Steelers would very likely pony-up in a heartbeat IMO. Cowher wants to spend more time in his new house in Raleigh, NC getting to know his daughters, 2 attending Princeton and one in HS. Don't see him coaching elsewhere in the NFL, unfortunately.

The Steelers front office has been known to be very frugal. There have been several reports stating that Cowher wants to get paid more, he wanted to re-negociate his contract last year. Also did you hear the report that said that Cowher would listen to the dolphins regarding the HC position?

Yep...He has owned a 7500 SF dream home for over a year now here in Raleigh. Don't get caught up in the hype of him being our next coach...Not likely to happen.

Alex Marves just reported on WQAM that the phins will "quietly explore what it would take for Bill Cowher to come here".

I can see how Cam + Dom has a slim shot of happening. I don't see Cowher + Dom happening, though. I think it's far more likely that Dom stays for a year under a young rising OC, training somebody to take over the defense and realizing that it would be seen as a good thing by a team looking to hire him as a head coach in 2008. I don't really see Cowher retaining Capers in some sort of Blues Brothers-like manuever.

last i checked .. FL was a lot closer to NC than PITT .. so he would be closer to home .. its a possibility .. GET it DONE

Cam is not innovative. He runs a conservative offense. It was a fact that he had to open up the offense because of the Baltimore loss. He had no intentions of opening it up until the GM advised him and marty.

Cam isnt the guy. I wish people would stop stroking this guy. If you really want a good coordinator than go with the coordinator from Indy (I believe its tom moore). Now that guy runs a very efficient offense and has been doing that since he was hired.

I wouldnt be so sure of that. Cowher and Capers have a long history. Capers stint with Pitt is what vaulted capers into the HC scene (even though he sucks as a HC). When Capers coached Pitt they're defenses was stellar.

Thus the Blues Brothers reference. ("We're getting the band back together." Remember?)

Stroke........ Stroke...........:D

I'm sorry Aqua but I have to put the brakes on ya here. Just like Marty always did to Cam. I believe you have your facts mixed up here. I am from SoCal and my best friend is a Charger season ticket holder. Ever heard of Marty ball (run/run/run/punt)? Well this is what was happening many times before Cam was given complete control of playcalling.

With Martyball the Chargers averaged 13 points a game.

With Cam at the Helm they averaged 33 points a game.

Cam Cameron for Miami! Its whats good for you!

Capers has a history starting with a bang then literially running his teams into the ground.

The guy does have a good track record as a DC. And that's what im talking about, keeping him as the DC-asst HC and bringing in Cam as the HC.
