So with the recent perceived struggles of Ryan Tannehill and the bit of doubt that has crept in to many fin fans minds, I thought I would point out what I look to for hope. Cam Newton. His rookie year was slightly more successful than Ryan's but after that their careers take on very similar paths. Here's the basic stats for each of their first 4 years. Cam is currently in year 5 and you see how he is doing.

Year one: RT. 58% 3300 yards, 12 tds, 13 ints, 76 qbr, 35 sacks
Year one Cam: 60% 4000 yards, 21 tds, 17 ints, 85 qbr, 35 sacks

2 Rt: 60% 3900, 24, 17, 82 qbr, 58 sacks
2 Cam: 3900, 19, 12, 86 qbr, 36 sacks

3 RT: 66% 4000, 27, 12, 93 qbr, 46 sacks
3 Cam: 62% 3400, 24, 13, 89 qbr, 43 sacks

4 RT (projected): 61%, 4000, 27, 15, 88 qbr. 43 sacks
4 Cam: 59%, 3100, 18, 12, 82 qbr, 38 sacks.

As you can see Cam had an off year, worse than Tannehill. He came into year on the verge of the hotseat, just like RT will be next year almost 100%. The other thing the sacks. Cams sack numbers are way down this year compared to years past (24 to start week 15. Just wanted to point out that with a better line and a little luck we could see a big jump next year out of RT17 as well. Stay strong fin fans!

With everything better....
Tannehill needs a pro bowl line up on every unit to succeed. If you watch the Giants/Panthers game the observation and statement made was: Newton has literally nobody to throw to but the great ones make players around them better.

Nothing else to add to.

In before people starting tell you to never compare them two against one another because one is on an entirely different level than another...

On the other hand, when you look at their first 4 years, Tannehill is the better QB. Ignorant to say he couldn't turn the corner like Cam has with the proper coaching...

Blind statement to make considering he hasn't even had an average unit on every one in his four years...

An HC & OC w/ the proper scheme would help RT immensely.

Watching the Giants/Panthers game and my observation is that Cam Newton should not be in any MVP conversation. Nothing else to add to.

:sidelol:

He was responsible for more points in one half than our entire team scored in 60 minutes.

And he made Ted Ginn Jr and his family an 8TD (still counting) receiver per season. As a matter of fact Ginn has a total of 19 receiving TDs in his career (8 years). 13 of them coming in 2 Carolina season with Cam Newton. How was that again? The great ones elevate the talent around them.

EDIT: quick corrections: almost as many points in one half than our entire team in 60 minutes.

It's funny how with Ryan Tannehill it's always the fault of someone else. I wonder how many more head coaches, offensive coordinators and quarterback coaches will need to lose their jobs before the Tannehill zombies will finally admit that the guy just doesn't have what it takes to be elite.

4 TDs for Newton today. Ginn dropped one a few minutes ago.

I like Carolina. They're a real good team.

Not even what anyone is saying. But even if they were saying that, you're telling me Joe Philbin, Mike Sherman, and Bill Lazor are worthy coaches that got robbed by Tannehill?

Can had been a stud at every level. He has it.

I guess he needs to throw 7 tds to impress.

Teddy still droppin catches, hes 2nd in the league in drops...but he does getopen as hell, wide open...hes got legit speed

Panthers play good ass defense...look at how well they cover and attack the ball carrier...we dont have a linebacker on our team with talent anywhere close to luke kuechlys talent....wish we had him on our team he instantly makes your defense better

This is what happens when you have good qb play teamed with good coaching, good play calling and good defense, perfect storm. Cam was nothing but an after thought last season as was their coaching, play calling and defense.
