Cam Newton will start Friday's second preseason game against the Dolphins.

After Jimmy Clausen started last week, Newton gets his chance to run with the first unit. With a decision on the Week 1 quarterback expected to come down next week, it's a vital opportunity for the No. 1 overall pick. The Panthers want Newton to be their starter and run with the job, but he'll have to earn it.

basically henne will be under a national microscope again i hope he doesnt fail this game.

Tough work for the rookie to go against our starting defense. You'd hope that Henne would look better than a first year rookie, but let's see...

Definitely wanna see Henne do well in this game. Moore has a chance to shine against his former team as well.

This should give our starting secondary a chance to practice bringing in interceptions.

Get to see what our defense can do against a scrambling QB wich IMO, is not going to be much. Newton was used to finding one receiver in college, if not, he tucked the ball and ran. If he gets confused and has to run, I am willing to bet our Defense, in no way shape or form, is going to be able to stop him behind the LOS.

Interesting. He was very aggressive in the game against the Giants. Lots of shots down the field. Our corners and safeties will get some good work.

Agreed, though I am anticipating the reaction after Newton scrambles around and hits a WR on a 30 yard throw.

The real issue, to me anyway, is how can the Dolphins pry Clausen out of there?

I can already see Cam Wake "welcoming" Newton to the NFL, and the turf.

Wonder if his dad will be soliciting Nolan for an under the table $payment for Cam to tank.
