Cam Newton workout was phenomenal

i will say though that i trust dilfers take about as much as i trust 99.99 percent of this boards...

I was going to suggest the exact same thing.

I never trust what Dilfer has to say. I'll wait until I get confirmation from someone else that thinks Cam looked "phenomenal"

But I've been thinking he'd look excellent so it wouldn't surprise me if Dilfer's right, for once.

He got them $175 pair of J's on. Sure you were not played to pay football Cam.

kick backs are everywhere in major revenue college sports...trust me...we just don't hear about a lot of them...

Absolutley right. Scoop Jardine a player for the Cuse(Basketball) has a new pair of J's on everytime they come out and he aint even that good.

I guess I put more stock in Dilfer's take than some of you guys. I don't always agree with what he has to say but I respect the fact that he studies the tape himself and comes to his own conclusions rather than reading whatever Mel Kiper or Todd McShay send to every talking head at ESPN.

As for Newton's workout... well, who's surprised by the result? The guy is a physical marvel with arm strength to spare. What I'm waiting for is if they do that series they did last year with Jon Gruden and the top quarterbacks, talking concepts and looking at film. I got a good peek into Clausen's, McCoy's, Tebow's and Bradford's character in those spots, and would love to see Newton, Gabbert and Mallett go through the same thing.

Why all the hate? I bought 175 dollar shoes and im only 17.. Now if he is driving a really nice car then you can say that but with shoes, come on man...

i think espn is loaded with hacks...chalk full of them...especially the nfl and nba analysts...i pay them ZERO mind

Well applying a bit of logic, I woud say that Newton does not work( No time between football and school) I bet you work being that your 17.

If your parents bought them then I would say you may have got them for a gift. But I doubt it cause you pretty much have to stand in line for a few hours to get them.. Especially since Newton must have big feet. Now maybe Newtons dad bought him the sneakers without the 100,000 that he allegedly got from Auburn.

Or maybe he saved up? Maybe money from gifts?

Also interesting thing is I have several friends that play for college football teams and living in a college town, they do get money from what I hear. Example living at MTSU the coaches would give there players 500 dollars for there away games to go eat that weekend. Do you know how much money they pocket out of that?

My whole point is i dont believe that 200,000 dollar stuff.. I do believe they get some money though and that is because i know people that get paid from college. its not a outrageous amount of coin but its enough to get you some nice shoes lol

He will never drop to #15,,,,San Fran, Washington or Minny will take him. Trading down for a 2nd rounder probably is the only thing that makes sense for us now. Take a RB in round one (Ingram or LeShoure), and then the BPA in round 2, maybe Kaepernick if he is there in Round 3.

Honestly, who cares if he got paid?

1. You KNOW it happens at every major university, or I at least would be shocked if it didn't.
2. These kids make millions of dollars for their schools. Give 'em a free ride and call it square?
3. Even if you have a problem with it (you're dumb), it's a non-issue in the NFL.

I know. The NFL should ONLY draft players who never took money while playing in college. It'd look like the replacement season of the late 80s.

you guys think vontae ended up at illinois all the way from dc cause he liked the uniform colors??? i seriously doubt it...money changes hands all the time with these kids...nothing new

but i don't think $200k gets handed over all the time...lol
